Chapter 84 - Fight in space (IV)

The red guards quickly noticed the incoming enemy. Their eyes narrowed as their muscles tensed. They tightly grabbed their weapons. Knowing that a harsh fight was before them, they ignored all distractions.

Weaving between energy attacks and dangerous missiles the two loyal level 65 warriors began forming their spells. Since their job was to keep Eldrak distracted they knew that gaining the initiative was highly important.

Since they had a few seconds to form their spells, the red guards were ready to send their enemy a deadly welcoming gift. A massive run network formed in space as the well-trained guards worked together to form a single spell.

Enormous amounts of mana were sucked towards them from hundreds of meters away. Invisible and intangible storms began forming as more and more mana streamed towards the emptied space.

Golden lines multiple meters in diameter formed. Millions of miniature runes came together. An unbelievable amount of mana received the 'metal'-attribute. Suddenly the space around the red guards was filled with hundreds of deadly swords. Their sharp edges reflected the light of distant stars as they shot towards Eldrak.

The genius Zrathras warrior's eyes lit up from excitement. This was exactly what he was aiming for. Finally, he could feel the thrill of battle again. Although the two red guards were somewhat weak for his taste, their combined spell still contained a lot of power.

Maniac laughter left Eldrak's mouth as he rapidly closed the last few meters of distance. Finally, the first sword shot directly towards Eldrak's head.

The brightly shining metal confronted the black skinned monster. A claw suddenly shot forward. The first sword was shattered into millions of pieces. This was the start of a beautiful dance. A storm of swords glided around Eldrak, attacking from all sides. Meanwhile the warrior made use of everything he had to fight back.

With six arms, two legs, and even his thick hair Eldrak shattered and reflected the incoming weapons. The two red guards stayed outside the storm, solemn expressions on their faces. They were testing their enemy.

Since they knew who their opponent was the two guards didn't dare to make a quick judgement. Eldrak Prim Irom Furuwewent Zrathras was a name many human soldiers had learned to fear. Unfortunately, they didn't know his exact strength. Thus, they could only probe him slowly.

However, it soon became apparent that this level of attack didn't pose any danger to the Zrathras warrior. It seemed he used it as warm up. A hundred swords were destroyed in no time at all. Meanwhile Eldrak only received some shallow wounds. The residual mana did slow down his recovery but that was all the red guards achieved.

After their harsh training the guards had long ago formed a tacit understanding. No words were exchanged as they slightly changed their spell. The remaining swords fused in pairs of two, becoming thicker and stronger.

Eldrak didn't care though. He adapted his attacks. His arms became slower, packing more and more strength. After a few clashes even the first fused sword broke.

Suddenly he felt danger from behind him. His senses told him that a different threat had arrived. A spear silently shot towards his head.

Eldrak didn't turn around. His red, waterfall-like hair moved in sync. It shot up, abruptly entangling the spear tip.

The red guard, who suddenly went into close combat, didn't care that his attack failed. His muscles tensed as he yanked his weapons upwards. The sudden move sliced through Eldrak's hair. Strands of his gorgeous cape were ripped apart. They floated in the air, red as blood.

Eldrak punched another sword away before quickly turning around.

The next attack immediately reached him. Focusing his excited eyes on his enemy, Eldrak welcomed the fight. He clawed at the incoming spear. Another arm shot forward, threatening to rip the red guard's throat out. His other arms were still occupied by the sword storm surrounding him.

Eldrak dropped all inhibitions. His movements got faster and faster, smoother and smoother. It felt like a prehistoric monster slowly waking up. The pressure on the red guard grew.

Suddenly the Zrathras warrior decided he held the passive position long enough. One of his arms shot out, racing into the sword storm. It only took a moment to clear a small space of weapons. With the opening he created, Eldrak focused on the red guard.

Arms shot forwards from all sides. The red guard suddenly showed a new trick, his weapon constantly transforming. In order to defend against Eldrak it formed two tips, three, four.

Eldrak happily welcomed everything the red guards had. Concentrating his will to send messages he even had the leisure to mock his enemies:

"You're red guards, eh? I have to admit you are a decent warm up. Hey, you tow, what's your names?"

"The silent type? Should we pause for a second? Why don't…?"

Suddenly Eldrak's eyes widened. All his senses tingled in alarm. He pushed his enemy away, dashing towards the side. A few swords cut into his flesh, but he ignored them.

Just as Eldrak had left his original position a massive green beam shot past him. A pained growl left his mouth. The energy beam had still scraped him. His right side was partly gone. A disgusting green energy fed on one of his wings and a part of his hips and arms.

Naturally, the two red guards wouldn't miss this chance. They quickly pressed their advantage.

"Getting help from your station?! Disgusting! Puny humans! Where is your honor?!", bellowed Eldrak in anger.

A smirk formed on the male guard's face. He couldn't hold back from letting out a mocking laugh.

"That's what you get from talking too much!"

The tables had turned in an instant. Eldrak was in a precarious position. The mothership was occupied with slowing down the senator. Eldrak was alone, defending against strikes from all directions.

Two of his arms were missing and the corrosive energy didn't allow him to regrow them. The genius warrior suddenly turned silent. All his focus was on the fight. Spear tips shot past him as his claws graced his enemies' bodies.

A rapid exchange of attacks was undergoing. Missiles shot past the combatants as Eldrak began to move around. In the blink of an eye, they had clashed hundreds of times. Eldrak made use of the surroundings, pushing his opponents to defend against missiles and dodge energy attacks.

On the mothership's bridge Sophia watched with a pale face. Her eyes couldn't follow the attacks. She only saw Eldrak hit by a massive beam. She didn't know what to feel. Did she want those humans to win? They were unrelated to her, but they were still humans.

On the other hand, her fate wouldn't be good if Eldrak died. She knew this herself. Although she never asked to be put in such a situation, she knew that Eldrak was really her only chance to stay alive. Without the genius warrior the elder would have killed her and all the villagers. Or maybe done even worse.

Some of the Zrathras on this ship had deliberately let her overhear their conversations. She knew that many of them saw humans as food.

As her thoughts churned Sophia felt weak on her legs. But she didn't want to give the present Zrathras any excuse to make fun of her. The usually gentle lady bit her lips, keeping her back straight. She silently watched the crew discussing, sadly still not understanding too many words.

Haroktok had already forgotten about the human in the room. His eyes focused on the fight before them. By drawing a lot of attention, the human reinforcements had balanced out the situation. A big part of their firepower was used to hold the advancing senator at bay. But the old man was also patient.

Thus, the fight between Eldrak and the red guards would decide a lot. If the mothership had to safe Eldrak, the senator could immediately attack them. The atmosphere on the bridge was tense as the fight escalated more and more.

Both Eldrak and the red guards had dropped all inhibitions. They had probed their opponents long enough, ready to end this fight.

Suddenly two of Eldrak's arms shot forward. The guards hastily defend. Eldrak smirked as he dashed forwards. Before the guards could react Eldrak's arms suddenly exploded. A massive amount of mana was stored in them, while a suspiciously low amount of blood appeared.

But the red guards weren't in any position to care about the details. The attack caught them by surprise. Runes lit up all over their spears, forming shields before them. A massive impact rocked their bodies. Their bones hurt; their stomachs churned. Even the runes on their spears dimmed.

Still dizzy they couldn't keep up their initial spell anymore. The storm of swords vanished. Suddenly a terrifying pair of eyes appeared in the female warrior's vision. Eldrak didn't hold back anything. His last two arms swiped down at insane speeds.

The red guard had trouble defending herself. Flesh ripped apart and blood scattered through space.

Suddenly the two red guards seemed to have received a signal. Steeling her mind the female guard ignored everything. She didn't defend against the incoming claw, letting it deeply pierce into her chest. She groaned under the pain, but her determination was unbroken.

Her spear shot forward, piercing Eldrak's shoulder. The genius warrior completely ignored this additional injury. Suddenly his eyes narrowed, however. He wanted to turn around, but the red guard kept him in place. Only able to slightly shift his position, another spear penetrated his back.

The red guards hastily formed runes. 'Earth'- mana created thick shackles around all their bodies. After a few moments the three combatants were stuck to each other, not able to move anymore.

Fortunately, the red guards didn't have much time to form their spell. Eldrak knew he would be free any moment, brining death upon his enemies right after.

Suddenly the Zrathras' eyes narrowed dangerously. A human spaceship raced straight towards them.
