Chapter 72 - Emperor

Finally, she stops, her eyes zeroing in on the man in the second-to-last cell. It's him. The scar on his face is prominent as he leans against the iron rods of the cell, lost in thought. He doesn't even realize Lexzandra is standing right in front of him.

She clears her throat to grab his attention, but he doesn't move. Lexzandra wonders if he heard her. She calls his name softly, "Hello." Finally, he looks up at her.

Their eyes meet, and she's taken aback by how dark his eyes are—blacker than black. Lexzandra glances around nervously before hunching down and, in a low tone, tells him "I am here to ask you something."

He gives her a disinterested look and turns away.

'What's wrong with him?' she thinks, frustrated. She needs to say something to capture his attention, to gather information from him. He might know about the Hermit of the West, who knows.
