Chapter 67 - Lukewarm

As Lexzandra prepares to meet the staff of the princess's palace, she struggles with the remnants of weakness still plaguing her body. She sits before her vanity, her hands trembling slightly as she combs through her hair.

Elara, ever diligent, helps her into a simple yet elegant gown. The fabric feels heavy against her frail frame, and Lexzandra can't help but feel a pang of anxiety about the meeting ahead.

"Elara," she says, her voice soft but resolute, "tell me again about the staff. Who should I be most wary of?"

Elara, adjusting the folds of Lexzandra's gown, hesitates for a moment. "The head maid, Madam Maria, is strict and impartial. She sees you as a nuisance, like many others. Some of the maids outright despise you, while others fear your anger."

Lexzandra nods, taking a deep breath. "I understand. It won't be easy, but I need to earn their respect. Thank you, Elara."
