The sunlight filtered through the blinds, casting soft patterns on the walls of the bedroom. I stretched lazily, savoring the warmth of the blankets and the quiet hum of a Saturday morning.
Beside me, Carmen was already awake, sitting up with her phone in hand. She was scrolling through something, her brows slightly furrowed, lips pressed into a thin line.
I watched her for a moment, trying to decipher her mood. She didn't seem angry, but there was definitely something on her mind.
"Good morning," I said, my voice still heavy with sleep.
She glanced down at me, her expression softening instantly. "Morning, love." She leaned down to press a kiss to my forehead, but I noticed her phone screen went dark as she tucked it away quickly.
Suspicious.
I sat up, rubbing my eyes. "You're up early for a Saturday."
