Chapter 40 - Chapter 38: Blade sight

Tian Yu felt his head reeling, there was a voice in his head coercing him to submit, it was something he could not resist.

Feng Zhiming had set the stage to move their hearts and his omen of death took care of the rest.

He fell to one knee and both elders did the same.

"Respected envoy, we swear to the Great Dao to serve you." all three said in unison as Feng Zhiming stood before the sect with his hands behind his back.

"I will rest today and discuss the future tomorrow." Feng Zhiming said in a satisfied tone.

Tian Yu nodded hurriedly.

Anissa Flew over to the group and stood alongside Feng Zhiming, since he had beckoned her via mind transmission.

He turned around and began to walk to the guest residence, when, without warning, his hand went around her waist and grabbed her for support.

She blushed and was about to push him away, this was too much.

"If I don't grab you like this it won't look natural and I need to grab you otherwise I'm going to faint from exhaustion, I can't break my image." Another mental transmission reached her.

Despite her bright red cheeks she managed to keep her cool and allowed Feng Zhiming to hold her this one time.

"I'm only doing this because you comforted me once." she managed to send back a mental transmission despite the crazy ideas running through it at the moment.

"Thank you." Feng Zhiming replied.

As soon as they were out of view of the sect members, Feng Zhiming could not maintain a straight posture and his head fell onto her shoulder as he slouched.

Anissa was going to explode if this went on any further.

Since no one was looking she quickly slung him over her shoulder and rushed to the guest residence before tossing him on to the bed.

It was a crazy contrast to look at, was he really the demonic crow who had made people cower in fear earlier.

"Who is this man really, someone with his ambition should have been famous long ago." she thought to herself as she carefully moved the hair covering his face before covered him with a sheet.

Over here he was just an exhausted man, who was asleep.

"Why am I covering an Ethereal Core cultivator with a sheet?" she realized what she had just done and face palmed.

After that embarrassing display, she set up a barrier to prevent anyone from peeping with divine sense.

Anissa sat in a chair in the room and began to mentally practice her sword forms.

Her brows furrowed, the day passed and she still hadn't fought anyone.

Meanwhile at the Flowing River sect in their main hall, the sect leader kneeled before a man.

"Respected sir, we are making every effort at locating the beast, the cave where my disciple Fang died has been abandoned and there is no longer any trace of the creature you seek." he spoke in a shaky tone.

The sect elder looked to be a middle aged man and was at the Actualized stage of the Spiritual Awakening rank.

The man he had been bowing and speaking to had long red hair that fell to his shoulders, he held a large saber in his hands and had the physique of a battle hardened general.

"It has been a week." he spoke softly with a firm voice as he used a cloth to clean his saber.

The sect leader felt beads of sweat begin to form on his forehead.

"You promised me that in a week I would have the creature's location."

The sect leader felt great fear so he bowed to the man, hoping for his mercy.

"Forgive me Lord Krimin, the beast is unlike anything I've ever seen before, it leaves no traces. We don't even know what it looks like." he pleaded.

The red haired man stood up.

"I have made myself clear before, every disappointment I had with this sect would result in another head."

The sect leader looked up with fear.

"Back in my sect when we vowed to complete a task we did it at all costs, we razed villages, children, women and anything or anyone else."

He gestured for the bowing man to stand up.

"Do you know why you orthodox bastards hesitate to kill but I don't?"

The sect leader shook his head.

"Because when you kill someone, you open your eyes."

He raised his blade and pressed it against the sect leader's neck.

"When I kill, I no longer need to look with my eyes, I look with my blade."

He violently swiped the blade, the edge of the blade merely a hair's length from cutting open the sect leader's neck.

Unfortunately a disciple standing to their side had caught the end of the blade, his head and body separately fell to the ground.

"When you look with your eyes, you must feel and you must think, but the blade."

He had casually murdered an Ethereal Core disciple of the Flowing River sect and the sect leader remained silent, unable to object.

"The blade does not feel, the blade does not think. The blade merely cuts, cuts and cuts. Right now my blade wants to cut that creature."

He sheathed his saber as he began to walk out of the room.

"Next time I might not have hands as slippery, old Li, and the blood that it demands from the creature may end up coming from you." he spoke as he vanished.

Sect leader Li fell to his knees and began to think about where he had gone wrong.

He couldn't even beg the three great orthodoxies for help, they completely abandoned the Wildlands after war appeared as a possibility.

"Is this how life felt as a mortal?" he lamented as he had never felt such helplessness.

What kind of insane demon had set eyes on their sect?
