Chapter 15 - Chapter 13 : Master of the Chessboard

In this case he had to mentally rattle Louba Tian as much as he could, after all, the more mentally unstable he was, the greater the suggestions that could be implanted in him.

When he had been kneeling before him, he could only implement small suggestions, in this case he amplified his greed which helped him gain a hostage position instead of being downright killed.

Following this, he spoke to the reason in him. Why would he as a Chief need to raid a mortal camp directly?

When he had gotten mad at him and went to his tent, this was when Feng Zhiming started to talk to the trapped women, but not personally.

When he sensed them with his spiritual sense, he noticed many of them had lost their will power, so they were the first targets.

The blue haired girl Anissa who kneeled before him after Louba Tian was killed was one of those prisoners.

He appeared to them in the persona of a god he had titled the Forgotten One. Promising them that after they were brought into the tents by the bandits, they would be able to kill them and the bandits wouldn't fight back.

Anissa explained to him that she had been captured when she was already injured, otherwise how could an Ethereal Core cultivator ever compete with her.

After the bandits were murdered in their sleep which had been induced by Feng Zhiming, the girls all went to free Anissa who had been imprisoned separately with special restraints, apparently she was set to be sold to a dual cultivation sect and thus wasn't treated like all the other women.

After Anissa was freed, she was able to use the full extent of her cultivation. Feng Zhiming had instructed her to deal with Eli, she dispatched him instantly and had been the one to toss his head to Feng Zhiming.

Of course, Feng Zhiming wasn't a Dao Lord nor could he make a head speak or a headless corpse attack Louba Tian, however Louba Tian was so mentally unstable at that point that he could make him see anything he wanted to see.

The headless man was actually Anissa, but Louba Tian couldn't see that.

Feng Zhiming lit the encampment aflame.

After gaining some distance from it, he stood there for a moment, admiring the beauty of the flames.

"Writhing, growing and consuming as if it had been alive." Feng Zhiming spoke to himself.

After he had his fill he turned around to look at the group of women, it was obvious from one look into their eyes that they were truly grateful to the Forgotten One.

"The Forgotten One has showed us all mercy, I shall return to the Heavenly Divine Demon Sect to report back and spread his message. Junior sister, will you remain with the Circle of the Forgotten One or return."

"I Hera shall remain within this Circle and vow to expand it and let everyone bask in the lord's glory. I beseech the Forgotten vessel to take Anissa with you. The lord has instructed that your safety is paramount."

Feng Zhiming smirked internally, he had planted the idea of him being some type of high priest in this religion, he was now known as the Forgotten vessel.

"I shall comply with the will of the lord always. Let us all make an oath to the great Dao to commemorate our loyalty" Feng Zhiming cupped his hands and bowed.

"Upon my Dao heart I swear to abide by the Forgotten One's wishes, if I ever break this oath may I be struck by lightning." Everyone spoke in unison.

Anissa nodded and walked to his side. She cleaned her stained blade, it looked like she was around the same age as him and had the makings of a mature woman, of course merely looking a certain age didn't mean she actually was that old, Feng Zhiming was a prime example of that. But one thing was clear, a cultivator who had underwent Spiritual Awakening experienced a qualitative increase in appearance, unless a cultivator deliberately tried to look bad, they would be beautiful by any stretch of the description.

Within the narrative about the Forgotten One, Feng Zhiming had said that only when enough people basked in his light would he truly return to the world, this would motivate the Circle to expand as quickly as possible.

"Take all the spoils of the bandits and this core with you, all is for the Circle."

Feng Zhiming removed the scroll and tossed the ring along with the core that Eli had thought was at the fifth order.

The ring contained a huge sum of spirit stones and gold, and the core was just a fourth order beast core that had been seventy percent depleted, it was just augmented by the demonic suppression art making it seem like it was greater than it was.

Hera also knelt on one knee.

"I shall do my utmost to ensure that the teachings of the Forgotten one spread throughout the land. Please report back to the sect that I was killed in the battle."

"The one who was forgotten and the one who was lost, will be found in the vestiges of eternity."

Feng Zhiming spoke one last time as he departed with Anissa.

As they were flying back to the sect, Feng Zhiming took a closer look at the scroll they retrieved.

"An artifact that seems ancient. What do you think Anissa?"

"My lord, to me it seems that it is at least 1000 years old judging by the material's age."

The scroll was golden and actually possessed the durability of a Foundation Establishment cultivator.

However, despite the shiny exterior the scroll itself was empty.

"That would be far too boring, let's make this more interesting." a smirk appeared on his face.

Feng Zhiming made some modifications to the scroll, adding a few things here and there.

He turned to look at Anissa who was beside him. He didn't completely trust her but it didn't matter to him. She had sworn to the Great Dao so if she ever went against the Forgotten One's wishes which in this case was him, she would die.

"Do you know why Louba Tian fell apart so quick despite being so powerful?"

"Receiving Your wisdom would be my pleasure, my lord."

Feng Zhiming put the scroll back in his storage ring.

"Cultivators have one fatal flaw, no matter what they cultivate they pursue longevity, yet they will die on a hill. Louba Tian knew the artifact would attract the attention of factions far more powerful than him. Yet he still somehow let the information leak and kept the artifact."

Feng Zhiming closed his hand into a fist, scenes of the past flashing by in his mind.

"He was more greedy for money than he was for living, and that cost him his life."

Anissa bowed her head.

"I will take your teachings to heart my lord."
