The mortal stared him down, his brow furrowed in defiance. His voice laced with a stubborn determination that he knew all too well, he declared, "I am coming with you."
Luciano sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.
Of course, he was not going to back down that easily. This was the same mortal who had once scaled a towering oak tree to rescue him as a wayward kitten, heedless of the dangers. It probably had something to do with the fact that the thought of dying did not faze him in the least. The prospect of being babysat by Asmara was also blatantly eating away at his pride.
"The labyrinthine caves are going to be heavily protected which means it will be difficult for me to both evade the protectors and keep an eye on you," he tried to reason with him. "It is too dangerous."
His jaw only set more firmly from his response. There was a fire burning in his greys, a reckless sort of courage that irked him. "I am not letting you go out there alone."
