His eyebrows knitted together in a puzzled frown as he reiterated her words in his mind. She wanted him to do what now? What the hell did she mean? Whisper her name? Why would she want him to whisper her name to repay an hourglass debt? Was she purposefully making it easy for him to repay the debt to protect him from facing the consequences if he failed to fulfil a difficult request?
His expression was bewildered, his eyes fluttered rapidly and he was having trouble hiding his confusion. Her eyes were alight with expectation.
"You want me to what?"
"Whisper my name," Asmara repeated, her voice barely above a whisper itself. "I want to hear you say it."
He hesitated for a moment while still wearing a bemused expression, glancing around the library as if searching for an answer to the questions swirling inside his mind. When his gaze landed on the mortal, he arched an eyebrow to silently ask him if he heard the same thing he was hearing.
