Giovanni threw his head over his shoulder to see a woman hurrying over to him, her thundering features framed by a cascade of dark hair. She shut the book he was just reading angrily. "Who let you down here?" she questioned him, her chocolate brown eyes piercing into him intently.
"I... No one," he answered nervously and when he stole a peek down at the book again, his brows furrowed in confusion, wondering if the story he was reading was real. "I just… walked down here."
She raised a perfectly shaped eyebrow, her full lips curling into a slight frown. "You walked past my spell?" Her voice was laced with suspicion.
Giovanni swallowed hard, suddenly very aware of the shadows that seemed to be closing in around them. She was doing this as a warning to him, he realised, to tell the truth. "I did not mean to intrude. I had no idea that this place was not open to the public. There weren't any signs at the entrance. "
