Ciara's POV
Mr. Evans' face contorted with anger, but Emma wasn't done. Her eyes were wet, brimming with unshed tears. She looked at me, and then at him, her lips trembling. "You think you can just ignore me, don't you? Don't you see me, am I invisible to you? Goddamn it." Her voice cracked. "I've been working here for years, working my ass off for your stupid ass, always hoping you'd notice me, but you never did. You only have eyes for others and for her now!"
I stared at her, wide-eyed. "Emma, what are you talking about?" I didn't understand her and what her feelings got to do with me.
"I've liked you for so long, Mr. Evans," she confessed, her voice barely a whisper now. "But you don't even see me." She turned to me, her face flushed with a mix of anger and pain. "It's always someone else, someone new."
Mr. Evans ran a hand through his hair, his expression softening. "Emma, I didn't know—"
