Ciara's POV
After much dissatisfaction from the conversation with the doctor, I had no option but to abandon the idea I had initially come for. He denied proceeding with the procedure. I steeled myself with one certainty - things must go my way. I concluded my visit at the hospital and headed for the bank.
The mid-afternoon had become crisp, and even the sun's rays seemed to scorch my skin, only adding to the frustration building within me as I walked into the bank, my purse clutched tightly in my hand. Maybe with this check, I could finally put this whole ordeal behind me and start fresh - me and my unborn children.
As I approached the teller's counter, I pulled out the check and forced myself to put on my most confident smile. "Good afternoon," I said, trying to sound as poised as possible. "I'd like to deposit this check, please."
