Do you remember what happened?" Suzy asked, her voice barely a whisper.
The man nodded, offering Suzy a seat. He began narrating, his voice filled with a mixture of sadness and anger.
"Your mother, Lady Fiona, had been having an affair with Count Edmund even before he married Countess Helene," he said. "He couldn't marry Fiona because she didn't have any social standing. She was a commoner, and the daughter of a blacksmith so he married Helene, daughter of an earl out of greed for her family power and benefits. Helene actually love Edmund but he wasn't fair with his distribution of affection favoring Fiona more."
"He still kept his marriage a secret and continued with his relationship with Fiona like nothing ever happened. Fortunately, Fiona found out about Edmund's marriage, she wanted to leave," Gerald continued. "But she was already carrying his child. Edmund, desperate to keep his secret, brought Fiona to live with him, much to Helene's displeasure."
