Ryan's mind was racing. He couldn't believe that Suzy was pointing a gun at him. Suzy reloaded the pistol again, her eyes filled with a cold, calculating hatred. "How dare you threaten Isabella," she demanded, her voice low and menacing.
Ryan tried to reason with her, his voice filled with concern. "Duchess, Cass… Cassandra, put the pistol down. We can talk about this."
Suzy looked at him, her eyes filled with a mixture of anger and defiance. "Who gave you the right to think of harming Isabella?" she asked, her voice rising.
Another shot fired, but Suzy missed again. Her frustration mounted. "Why isn't the damn bullet hitting you?" she shouted, her voice filled with rage.
As she reloaded the pistol, Ryan continued to try to reason with her. "I just wanted to scare her mother," he explained, his voice low and calm. "I wanted her to know how it feels to be on the receiving end of that whip."
