As they stepped out of the building, the cold night air hit them in the face. Ryan pulled Suzy into a secluded area, away from the prying eyes of the people inside. His anger was palpable, and he needed a moment to calm down.
"What in heaven's name were you doing here?" he demanded, his voice low and dangerous.
Suzy was taken aback by his anger. She tried to explain, but the words got caught in her throat. "I...I can explain," she stammered.
Ryan's patience was wearing thin. "Explain," he demanded, his voice rising.
Suzy took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. "I was looking for someone," she said, her voice trembling slightly. "My research led me here."
Ryan's anger intensified. "You were looking for someone in a place like this?" he asked, his disbelief evident.
Suzy nodded, her eyes filled with fear. "It was the only lead I had," she explained, her voice barely a whisper.
