"Don't you agree with me, huh?" The man's question brought her back to reality.
She stuttered, "Yes, well... I do," her answer tinged with uncertainty, as she was not entirely convinced by his argument. If there was one thing she'd let go of, it was the notion of love. How could she affirm her agreement with him with sincerity?
"Thanks for listening. Name's Derrick," he introduced himself, extending his hand, which she shook with a warm smile.
"I'm Aurora. A pleasure," she responded, and they shared a smile.
"Did you come with friends? You don't look like someone who usually attends events like this," he observed, his gaze curiously resting on her.
"Um, I came with my brother," she lied. She was with Damien, her Alpha, yet referring to him as a friend felt disingenuous due to their contractual relationship. Also, getting too familiar with Damien wouldn't be good for her.
