"Are you going somewhere, wife?" Julian asked as he stepped out of the kitchen, wiping his hands with a towel and Ruby looked him and nodded.
Behind him, Karl followed closely, though it was clear he was trying to stay hidden behind Julian.
Karl kept his head down, avoiding Ruby's gaze. The last thing he wanted was for her to ask him to recite the alphabet again. He was nervous ā mostly because he couldn't remember half of it.
Ruby raised a brow, already sensing his attempt to disappear. "Karl," she called out sweetly, making him freeze in place.
Julian glanced over his shoulder, amused. "I think she noticed you."
Karl groaned softly.
Ruby was enjoying this far too much. She knew perfectly well that Karl didn't remember any of the alphabets ā he had been slouching and resting while everyone else was reciting.
