"How was work today?" Julian asked as he casually took the lunch bag from Adrian's hands.
"It's fine," Adrian said, his voice calm but filed with exhaustion. Without another word, he headed straight to the washroom to freshen up.
By the time he returned to the dining table, Karl had already prepared his plate and set it neatly in front of him.
"Eat while it's still hot," Karl said, nudging the plate closer.
Adrian sat down, quietly eating as the warmth from the food seemed to ease some of the tension in his shoulders.
Once he was done, Karl placed the small chocolate bar in front of him without a word.
Adrian raised a brow, his eyes flicking from Karl to the chocolate.
"Wife went to the market today and brought chocolate for us," Milo said excitedly before Adrian could ask. "She said whoever wrote the most words would get the biggest bar."
Milo pointed proudly to Julian, who was happily nibbling on his larger bar.
