Chapter 11 - CHAPTER ELEVEN: shadows of deceit

Yami and the Grand Master sat in the office, the tension palpable. The Grand Master's secretary had been dismissed, leaving the two alone. Yami's eyes darted around the room, searching for an escape route, but the Grand Master's piercing gaze kept him pinned to his seat.

"Sit down, Yami," the Grand Master commanded, his voice echoing off the walls.

Yami's legs trembled as he lowered himself into the chair, his mind racing with excuses. "What do you mean, sir? I...I haven't done anything," he stammered.

The Grand Master's expression turned cold, his eyes narrowing. "Don't play dumb, Yami. I know about your little stunt with the BGC directors. You think you can just waltz in here and pretend nothing's wrong?"

Yami's thoughts raced as he tried to come up with a plausible explanation. "Oh, that, sir? I was just eager to see the competition get started," he said, attempting a innocent smile.

The Grand Master's face turned red with rage. "Since when did you start making decisions on my event? You're just a mere participant, Yami. Don't forget your place!"

As the Grand Master slammed his hand on the table, Yami flinched, his heart racing. He knew he had to think fast, or risk facing the Grand Master's wrath.

Meanwhile, in another part of the complex, Noburo and the Grand Master's secretary crossed paths. Noburo, never one to back down from a fight, sneered at the secretary. "Hey, who are you? What's your business here?"

The secretary remained silent, his eyes fixed on Noburo with an unnerving intensity. Noburo, taken aback by the secretary's demeanor, tried to push him, but the secretary effortlessly blocked the move. With a swift snap, he broke Noburo's finger, leaving him howling in pain.

Noburo, enraged, charged at the secretary, but was met with a series of swift kicks and punches. The secretary's movements were fluid and precise, leaving Noburo stumbling backward.

Just as the fight was intensifying, Yami emerged from the office, his eyes locked on Noburo. With a sharp eyeroll, he signaled Noburo to stop, but Noburo, fueled by anger, ignored the warning. Yami had no choice but to intervene, using his extended foot to trip Noburo and send him crashing to the ground.

As Noburo struggled to get up, Yami delivered a sharp slap, leaving him stunned. "Can't you just stay put for once?" Yami hissed, his eyes blazing with frustration.

But Noburo's attention was elsewhere, his gaze fixed on the secretary, who had vanished into thin air. "What kind of magic move was that?" Noburo wondered, his mind reeling.

Unbeknownst to Noburo, the Grand Master had been escorted out of the complex by his opponent, leaving behind a trail of confusion and chaos.

At Suzuki's company, Kiriko was busy trying to establish trust with Kenji and Yasu. He engaged them in conversation, his eyes sparkling with sincerity. "Hi, Yasu. Please, call me Kiriko."

Yasu smiled, her eyes warm. "Okay, Kiriko. How can we help you?"

Kiriko's expression turned serious. "I need to tell you something about the championship. Something that could change your mind about participating."

Kenji's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean?"

Kiriko leaned in, his voice taking on a conspiratorial tone. "The BGC isn't what it seems. It's not just a competition – it leads back to ancient times. And I have proof."

Yasu's eyes widened. "What kind of proof?"

Kiriko's smile was enigmatic. "Let's just say I have my ways. But trust me, you don't want to get involved in this. It's dangerous, and the stakes are higher than you can imagine."

As Kiriko's words hung in the air, Kenji and Yasu exchanged a skeptical glance. Was Kiriko telling the truth, or was this just another ploy to gain their trust? Only time would tell.
