Milo returned to his office at Stratton Enterprises after leaving the hospital, his face pale, his mind swirling with doubts about Alex Stratton's condition. He hadn't stayed at the hospital long enough to hear the doctor's final report, and the uncertainty gnawed at him. Alex would probably remained the same. They had observed changes in his vital signs before, yet they hadn't led to any recovery. Worse, or better for him and his mother, maybe Alex's condition had deteriorated, and he was closer to death. But Milo's greatest fear, the one that sent a chill down his spine, was the possibility that Alex might wake up, fully aware of what he and his mother had done to the firm and to Emily.
