When she woke the next morning, she found herself alone in bed.
Emily walked out of the bedroom and saw Alex and Ed sitting at the breakfast table with the twins, who were excitedly digging into their plates. "Morning!" Alex greeted her first, followed by the cheerful calls of the twins, "Mommy! Mommy!"
"Good morning, Mrs. Stratton," Ed added politely.
She made her way to the table and took a cup of flat white from Alex. "I'll need to go to the office today. Would you like to join me?" Alex asked, taking a sip of his coffee.
"Your office? No, thank you," Emily replied instantly.
"But I've been to yours already!" Alex protested. "You haven't been to mine," he added with a playful smile.
"Fine," Emily gave in and agreed to go with Alex to his office after dropping off the twins to school.
