After silently observing the interactions between Emily and Alex, Mr. Johnson looked at Emily across the table and said "Now that you are back, I'm going back to Melbourne tomorrow."
"Why so soon, Dad? We just came back." Emily asked, a note of disappointment in her voice.
Mr. Johnson pressed his lips together, glancing at Alex and the twins before looking back at Emily. "You don't need me here. Some business deals are waiting for me back home," he explained.
Emily nodded, though she couldn't shake the feeling of wanting him to stay longer. Alex shot Ed a look across the table, and Ed quickly added, "We'll pick you up to the airport tomorrow, Mr. Johnson."
When the desserts were served, Emma's eyes lit up with excitement. Alex cut a big piece for her and a small piece for Emily, knowing that Andy didn't like sweets, just like him. Emily took a small bite of the strawberry cake. However, just like the rest of the meal, she didn't eat much.
