Julian sat in the hospital room in silence, his appetite nonexistent when Aiden returned and offered to bring takeout. Julian declined with a shake of his head, his focus solely on Emily lying unconscious. "But you haven't eaten all day," Aiden pressed, concerned.
"I'm okay," Julian replied tersely, still fixated on Emily's still form. Just then, his phone rang, and Julian checked the caller ID before answering. "Mr. Everhart, he is awake," Dr. Zykov's voice came through eagerly. "The experiment worked. He doesn't have any memory from the past."
A faint smile curled Julian's lips at the news. "Is he with his wife now?" Julian inquired.
"No, Mrs. Smiths left earlier to go shopping," Dr. Zykov informed him.
Julian's smile faded, replaced by frustration and anger. "I'll call her to let her know," Dr. Zykov offered.
