After putting the twins to bed that night, following an afternoon of outdoor play, Emily descended the stairs and found Alex still seated on the couch, engrossed in the iPad in his hand. She glanced at the bottle of prescription pills on the kitchen counter, took it in her hand, and walked over to him. Standing before him, she wordlessly handed him the bottle. Alex looked up at her, taking the bottle and the glass of water from the coffee table. Without hesitation, he swallowed two pills with a sip of water. Emily nodded approvingly.
"Now you need to get some rest," she insisted.
Hearing her directive, Alex nodded. "Okay," he agreed, following her upstairs. As they reached the door of the bedroom next to Emily's, she paused, intending to watch Alex enter and rest for the night. However, Alex stopped beside her at the door. Emily raised an eyebrow.
"Go in. Get some rest," she urged.
"It's not my bedroom," Alex clarified.
