After the meeting at Stratton Enterprises, Kai returned to the office with a sense of unease. He called Carla into his office and recounted the strange events that had transpired.
"Emily called me," Kai began, "and right after that, Alex Stratton stormed out of the meeting."
Carla's curiosity was piqued. "Did she say anything else?" she asked.
Kai shook his head. "No, but it sounded urgent from her voice," he replied. "And the way Alex reacted, it's like... it's like he wants to be with her again," he added, recalling the gossip he had overheard at Stratton Enterprises.
Carla decided to call Emily herself but couldn't get through. As she tried repeatedly, a frown formed on her face. Something was wrong. Kai shared her concern.
