Emily signalled Ed to lower the backseat window with a swift tilt of her head. Ed glanced at Alex in the rearview mirror, saw no objection, and rolled down the window, revealing Alex Stratton in the back seat. Andy and Emma, curious, tiptoed to peer inside. As the window descended, Andy's eyes widened. There was something familiar about Alex's face, but he couldn't place it immediately. He continued staring at Alex, who met their gaze with a gentle smile.
Suddenly, recognition dawned on Andy. "Mommy, we met at the airport, in the washroom," he said, turning to Emily with wide eyes. Emily, shocked, glanced at Alex, who nodded and confirmed softly, "Yes, you are right."
Confused, Emily's mind raced to piece together their connection when Emma tugged at her sleeve. "Mommy, do you work with him too?" she asked.
