Chapter 87 - I am the villain you are looking for

Eric, upon seeing the report in the newspaper about superheroes appearing in Blue Valley, immediately pinpointed the identity of the superhero.

Stargirl, whose real name is Courtney Whitman, is a member of the American Justice League, and her weapon is a cosmic staff.

The staff grants her the ability to fly, manipulate cosmic energy, and create constructs, and she can even use it for telepathic communication.

Moreover, the staff in Stargirl's hands is identical to the one he saw in Madame Cassandra's future predictions, the one he himself had used.

This means that in the future, he could wield Stargirl's cosmic staff.

Considering that his mother and Clark were affected by the energy released from the spaceship, and one of the staff's functions is to manipulate cosmic energy, perhaps using the staff could eliminate the Kryptonian energy inside Martha and Clark.

Based on these reasons, Eric had set his sights on the cosmic staff.

This is also why he is now at Blue Valley High School.

"Are you Courtney Whitman?"

Eric stopped and examined the blonde girl in front of him.

"Yes, do I know you?"

Courtney gave a polite smile and asked Eric.

"I don't think you do, not yet."

Eric glanced at Jessica, who was left with a severe psychological scar, Jessica swallowed and immediately looked down, pretending she didn't know him.

"But you will get to know me soon."

Eric said in a calm tone: "Because I am the villain from the Unjust League you're looking for."

"!"

Courtney was shocked by Eric's explosive declaration and took a step back.

"What? You… you're from the Unjust League? No, you must be joking!"

Once she regained her composure, Courtney shook her head vigorously, "I can't believe a member of the Unjust League is around my age."

"That's a reasonable point."

Eric pretended to nod thoughtfully, "Looks like I need to prove it to you."

As soon as he finished speaking, a crimson glow flashed in his eyes.

Nearby, a car parked outside the school gate emitted a "whoosh" sound, and a burst of flames appeared on the car's body.

The flames quickly grew larger, rapidly covering the car.

Students around were startled and fled in panic, and screams filled the air.

Perhaps due to the flames reaching the fuel tank, the fire suddenly soared into the sky, intensifying further.

"You!"

Courtney looked at Eric with a furious expression, "Stop! How dare you do this in school?"

"I heard you also burned a student's car; isn't that kind of thing not so uncommon?"

Eric continued to provoke her.

"Well, that was just an accident."

Courtney said somewhat guiltily.

On the first day she inherited the staff, she had excitedly tested it outside and accidentally burned a car at an open-air movie theater.

But how did he know about that? She had only told Pat!

Courtney immediately cast a suspicious glance at Eric.

"Sometimes an unintentional mistake is worse than a deliberate wrong. Now I've successfully verified my identity as a villain from the Unjust League. If you want to act as a superhero and defeat me, you can come find me tonight."

Eric gave her an address and turned to leave.

His excellent "performance" successfully established a villain image in Courtney's mind.

Watching Eric's disappearing figure, Courtney took a deep breath, her eyes filled with seriousness.

Although she had always longed for the appearance of villains, she found that the villain in front of her seemed somewhat different from her expectations.

He had an elusive aura and abilities that were impossible to probe.

Even so, Courtney felt a hint of excitement within her.

Seeing Eric leave, Jessica let out a long breath.

She was quite pessimistic about Courtney's planned confrontation.

"If you're smart enough, you shouldn't go."

Although she had a generally indifferent impression of Courtney, she still offered a kind reminder.

"He said he's from the Unjust League, and I think… even if there are some issues, I have to try it."

Courtney shrugged and said to Jessica.

"So, you admit you're Stargirl now?"

"Um."

Courtney smiled playfully, "Of course, it's hard to hide it now. I'm looking for my partner; would you be interested?"

"Forming an organization to fight villains with just a few high school students seems quite naive. Find someone else for this deadly activity."

Jessica rolled her eyes at Courtney and then turned to leave.

Meanwhile, Eric, having left Blue Valley High School, took one last look at the chaotic school.

The reason he pretended to be from the Unjust League was just to lure Stargirl in.

Utilizing super vision to find the cosmic staff proved futile, so he turned to super hearing to eavesdrop on Stargirl's conversation with her father.

After confirming Stargirl's interest in the Unjust League, he decided to use the name of the Unjust League.

The so-called American Unjust League, as far as Eric knew, was a group of supervillains active decades ago.

Compared to well-known classic villain organizations, Eric had never heard of this ancient group before.

If it weren't for researching information, this existence, long lost in the dust of history, might have never been discovered.

As for these unfamiliar names like Sorcerer, Brainwave, Violinist, Ice Pillar…

Eric had never even heard of them.

The factory stood quietly in the night, like a wild beast ready to devour its prey.

Was it the guy who called himself the Injustice Society at school during the day who did it?

Courtney frowned and rubbed her butt, thinking to herself.
