"It's just as you thought, Clark. This is the tool you used when you first came to Earth. Sorry to tell you now, but neither you nor I were adopted."
Eric didn't offer much more explanation.
He had long anticipated that Clark would discover the secret in the barn. Given Clark's increasingly powerful abilities, it was only a matter of time before he uncovered it. Jonathan had also been preparing to find a moment to tell him the truth about his origins.
"You mean I'm an alien? You and I are both aliens who arrived on Earth in that spaceship?!"
Clark took a step back, feeling somewhat absurd and unable to accept the truth. "You must be joking, Eric."
His expression was even a little grim.
"Why didn't I know this? Why did my parents tell you the truth but kept it hidden from me?"
Clark was dissatisfied with being kept in the dark. "So, when did you find out? Six months ago? A year ago? Or did you know since middle school? I've been kept in the dark all this time, and if it weren't for Mom's accident, I would have continued to be deceived?"
"If you think of it as deception, you can think of it that way."
Eric ignored Clark's questions.
He understood the process of a teenager experiencing such a massive psychological shock and transitioning from shock to anger. However, he had no interest in becoming a psychological counselor, especially not for Clark.
Seeing that Eric was not responding, Clark wanted to continue asking him about the spaceship. He even thought about immediately going to the hospital to ask his father.
But thinking of his mother still lying in the hospital bed and his worried father, his restless emotions were somewhat calmed.
After taking a few deep breaths and trying to calm down, Clark suddenly noticed Eric placing a metal piece onto the missing part of the spaceship's outer shell.
The octagonal metal piece fit perfectly into the gap.
"What is this?"
Clark's emotions had become calmer, and seeing Eric's actions, he asked out of curiosity.
"It's something I found on the farm. It should be a part of the spaceship."
After placing the octagonal metal piece, Eric quietly observed the spaceship's reactions.
"Mom was knocked unconscious by the spaceship's radiation when she entered here by accident. If we restart the spaceship, maybe we can find a way to cure her."
While observing the spaceship, Eric spoke to Clark.
"So you think this piece you found can start the spaceship?"
Clark was also curious about the spaceship that had brought him to Earth.
"Don't know, but we have to try."
As soon as he finished speaking, the spaceship suddenly began to tremble slightly.
Clark, startled, took a step back and his eyes showed shock. "It's moving!"
"I can see that, Clark. No need to remind me."
Eric's expression became more serious.
He had avoided touching this Kryptonian technology before he had enough strength. If it weren't for Martha's sudden situation, he wouldn't have attempted to activate the spaceship now.
The initially slight tremors of the spaceship gradually intensified, causing the entire basement to shake.
Buzz!
The next moment, an invisible ripple suddenly emanated from inside the spaceship.
Accompanied by a strong light, it spread out like ripples!
Both Eric and Clark were caught off guard and were thrown away by the invisible ripple.
They felt a surge of energy penetrate their bodies instantly.
Boom!
Eric crashed into the basement wall, causing dirt to fall from the wall.
Clark was thrown onto the wooden steps in the basement, smashing the steps behind him with a loud crash.
With his back against the wall, Eric took a deep breath, shaking his head to clear the dizziness.
When he was about to land, he felt a wave of weakness in mid-air, almost causing him to fall.
After landing on the ground, he immediately checked his body.
He didn't find any significant abnormalities, just a bit of weakness and fatigue.
After confirming his own condition, he looked over at Clark.
He saw that Clark was in worse shape, lying on the ground gasping for air and unable to even stand up.
Exhaling deeply, he walked over to Clark.
He reached out to help him up. "Are you okay?"
"Not so good."
Clark coughed and held his chest. "I feel like I suddenly have no strength at all, and I feel unwell."
Upon hearing Clark's condition, Eric frowned.
Could the energy or radiation from the spaceship have affected both their bodies?
But since Eric and Clark had different Kryptonian physiologies, why were both of them experiencing symptoms of weakness?
While puzzled, the sound of sirens approached from a distance.
Eric used his super vision to look far away.
Several police cars with "DCA" written on them were driving towards the farm.
DCA?
Disease Control Agency?
Why were they coming here?
Shifting his gaze, Eric heard the phone ringing in the living room.
He immediately used his super speed to move to the living room and answered the phone.
"Is this Eric?"
Jonathan's slightly anxious voice came from the other end.
"Yes, Dad."
"The DCA suspects that your mother has been infected with some unknown toxin, so they're coming to the farm under the guise of public safety to conduct an investigation. Listen, Eric, I need you to hide the spaceship and make sure they don't find it. You can do that, right?"
"I understand, Dad."
Eric nodded.
"Also, the DCA might investigate Martha's recent activities. Tell them Martha hasn't left the farm since the weekend and has been conducting telephone fundraising."
Jonathan gave Eric further instructions.
"I know what to do, Dad."
After hanging up the phone, Eric looked at the approaching "DCA" vehicles on the road.
With a gust of wind, his figure disappeared from the living room and appeared on the road in the next moment.
His eyes emitted red lasers as he targeted the tires of the leading "DCA" vehicle.
With a loud explosion, the tire of the "DCA" vehicle blew out, causing the vehicle to lose control and veer left toward the roadside.
The driver slammed the gas pedal and sharply turned the steering wheel, barely stopping the car from crashing into a roadside tree.
The exploded car blocked the road, preventing other "DCA" vehicles from proceeding.
The culprit behind it all, Eric, cast a cold glance and then turned back toward the farm.
