Chapter 54 - My days as a superhero mentor in American comics

At first, tiny sparks appeared on the screen, then the fire spread and grew, causing the entire movie screen to burn.

The students watching the movie screamed and quickly ran outside when they saw the screen catch fire.

Clark was shocked, staring at the burning flames in front of him, frozen for a moment.

Was this caused by me?!

"We need to leave, Clark."

Pete didn't know the fire had anything to do with Clark, and pulled his arm, running outside.

"Alright, everyone, don't panic. Leave the classroom in an orderly manner and leave your books behind!"

Miss Atkins stayed calm, shouting to the panicking students as they fled the classroom.

Sitting at the back, Eric watched the burning movie screen and then glanced at the staggering Clark, a thoughtful look appearing on his face.

Clark's heat vision has awakened?

"I think we need to talk, Clark."

At Kent Farm, Jonathan looked at Clark.

"Dad, no one was hurt. Eric put out the fire before it spread, so no one got hurt."

Clark explained to his parents.

"So, I need your explanation."

Jonathan put down his cup and asked Clark, "How did you set the movie screen on fire?"

Clark helplessly told his parents, "My eyes just felt hot, like they were burning. Then, the place I was looking at caught fire, just like Eric."

He looked at Eric sitting next to him, "Eric's eyes can set things on fire too. I think I probably awakened the same ability as him."

"Eric could control his eyes from the start, Clark."

Jonathan said, "But your eyes...seem not well controlled."

"So...what can I do?"

Clark's long-suppressed negative emotions were a bit uncontrollable, and his tone got heavier, "I want to control it. I don't want to hurt anyone, so is this all my fault?"

"Clark."

Seeing Clark turn away in frustration, Martha stood up and gently comforted him, "Your father and I just want to know what happened."

"Clark's hormones were triggered, so his eyes went out of control."

Eric put down the newspaper introducing Gotham's new hero and said calmly, "Today's biology teacher was replaced by a sexy female teacher, and then she showed a movie."

"A movie?"

"Yes, a sex education movie."

"..."

Hearing Eric say "sex education movie," Jonathan and Martha looked at each other with strange expressions.

"This... ahem..."

After a few seconds of silence, Jonathan said in a low voice, "This is a bit complicated."

"Yes, it might really be related to hormones."

Martha nodded, her expression a bit awkward.

"Gulp, gulp!"

Drinking down a big glass of water in one go, Clark's frustrated mood didn't ease at all, and he asked his parents, "So now I'm an arsonist?"

He didn't understand why his parents were looking at his newly awakened power with a judgmental attitude.

Eric previously unlocked his flying ability, so why weren't his parents like this then?

"No, son, you are certainly not an arsonist. We just need to handle this, like controlling your other abilities. Eric went through the same phase as you, and now he can control his eyes. I think... he can give you some experience."

Jonathan looked at Eric, "Eric, you need to guide Clark."

Being Clark's guide?

Though not very interested in the job, seeing his parents' worried eyes, Eric finally nodded, "Okay."

Martha saw Eric nod and sighed in relief. She walked over to comfort Clark, "Clark, it just takes some time. I believe you can control it. During this time, you need to stay home and not go out."

"I understand."

Clark nodded helplessly.

Though he resented not being able to go out, for the safety of others, he finally listened to his parents.

At the back of the farm, Clark followed Eric, suddenly remembering the scene he saw at Cassandra's.

He saw himself fighting Eric in a cemetery, Eric choking him and trying to snap his neck, while he fired red lasers from his eyes in resistance.

Thinking of his newly awakened power, Clark felt a wave of panic.

Cassandra's prophecy is coming true, one by one.

Could that scene really be my future?!

"Clark!"

Lost in his thoughts, Clark was jolted by Eric's voice. He looked up and found himself in an open area.

Eric was standing in front of him, looking at him seriously.

"If you keep being distracted, the day you are 'released' will be far away."

Although he wasn't very interested in teaching Clark, since he had promised his parents, Eric wouldn't just go through the motions and immediately started scolding Clark.

"Sorry, I was thinking about something else. Eric, I promise I won't get distracted again."

Clark quickly apologized to his brother.

At the same time, he felt a strange sensation—Eric as his teacher?

Why did it feel a bit annoying?!

"Alright, the first thing you need to practice is 'turning on and off.'"

Eric said as he walked towards an old cow pen, setting up a scarecrow on the ground.

"Now, look at the scarecrow with your eyes, Clark, and imagine Miss Atkins' legs and chest in your mind."

Clark: "..."

"You... are you sure, Eric?"

"Or imagine your first crush."

Hearing Eric's wild words, Clark immediately felt uncomfortable, his whole body itching as if bugs were crawling on it.

"Um... I think I would be more comfortable practicing alone."

He said nervously to Eric.

"Whatever."

Seeing Clark's embarrassed expression, Eric stopped teasing him and stood further away from him.

Seeing Eric leave, Clark sighed in relief, took a few deep breaths, and focused his eyes on the scarecrow, chanting, "Lana!"

Half an hour later, when Clark could basically control the on and off of his heat vision, Eric prepared to move to the second phase of training.

"The second thing is control."

Eric placed a few bottles of milk on a distant fence, "What you need to do is use your eyes to emit heat vision and heat these bottles of milk without damaging them."

"...!"

Looking at the milk bottles Eric had prepared in advance, Clark was dumbfounded.

Was this Eric's previous practice tool?!
