Chapter 41 - The Real Monster

Gobita was the son of the goblin chief and also the rightful heir of the goblin settlement.

Goblins had a very limited life span.

A maximum of 3 years for even the strongest and healthiest goblin.

Due to this limited life span, a goblin  was considered an adult once they were 6 months old.

While the concept of a six-month-old adult might feel hard to digest for humans,.

It was the norm for goblins.

But even with such low criteria for being considered an adult, no one could call Gobita an adult.

After all, the poor boy was barely a month old.

He barely started being able to talk a few days ago.

Simply due to his lineage, he was supposed to live a very luxurious life, at least by goblin standards.

And yet, barely a month after his birth, their whole settlement was at risk of being destroyed.

His father and all the other men in the tribe were currently at war.

The future existence of the tribe depends on their victory or loss.

This uncertainty and hunger stemming from not having eaten anything over the past few days.

Naturally, this resulted in anxiety and fear among women and children.

Currently, whatever remained of the tribe was all huddled in one large hall, with a few guards stationed outside, ready to intercept any threat to their lives.

Unrest was evident in the air as the goblins wondered whether they were going to live to see another day.

In the midst of this, Gobita's mother was hugging him and seemed to be saying something to him.

But it was impossible for humans to understand.

It was during this unrest that a single shriek came from outside and caused panic to spread in the overcrowded goblin settlement.

Kree~

The painful growl of one of the guards stationed outside was heard by the poor goblins.

Indicating to them that someone or something was out there.

They didn't know who or what it was, but even they, with their primitive intelligence, could tell that being discovered now would spell doom for them.

So they remained quiet, doing their best not to make any noise.

The grunts and growls of the guard, which were initially distant, slowly got closer and closer.

Causing fear to take hold of the goblins, leaving them to anticipate the moment they were discovered.

Until it all stopped.

The painful and horrifying sounds that were coming from outside finally stopped.

Allowing many of the goblins present to sigh in relief.

But it was when they let their guard down that disaster struck.

Krigh~

The door to the hall slowly creeped open.

All the goblins held their breath, too scared to make any noise.

From the little open crevice, a blue-eyed face creeped inside.

Looking around at all the terrified goblins.

A wide, ominous smile creeped up on his face, and yet his eyes remained emotionless as he muttered.

"Found you"

It was just two words that they couldn't even understand, yet they contained a sense of finality.

Informing them that their fate is sealed.

As the boy fully entered, he towered over all the goblins, despite being short by human standards.

His face contained an otherworldly beauty, at least by human standards, and yet to these monsters, that same face looked no different from that of a scary monster.

And yet, despite the beauty, his face and body were covered in green goblin blood, announcing the fate of all the goblins stationed outside.

Despite his face returning to being stoic, a sense of ominous foreboding settled over the goblins.

The boy naturally emitted bloodlust, making it hard for the goblins to even move or make noise.

Keigh~

Keir~

Kevji~

The goblins cried out as the ominous boy made his way towards them with slow and well-paced steps.

As if taking pleasure in the goblin's torment.

They could do nothing but watch in horror as the boy slowly walked towards them.

They were no different from lambs in front of a wolf.

And yet, letting go of her sense of self-preservation, a brave female goblin tried to run and kill the boy to protect her kin and child.

Too bad the boy didn't care about her feelings or bravery.

Before she could take even a single step, a palm-sized blue portal manifested beside the boy, and before anyone could react, a knife shot out and collided with the goblin.

Bang~

Her body exploded on contact, splashing her green blood and innards everywhere, including her fellow goblins.

Kree~

Kreeee!!! ~

Kriiii~~

The goblins screamed in terror at seeing their fellow kin be brutally murdered in front of them.

As if that wasn't enough, a steel spear manifested in the boys hands.

It still dripped green blood from its tip, indicating the fate of its previous victim.

Drip~

Drip~

The boy dragged his metal spear across the ground as he walked towards the helpless goblins, producing an annoying metalic noise.

Screek~

What followed was a pure, one-sided blood bath.

The goblins stood no chance, and most of them didn't even try to resist.

As for the few who did their end, they were slow and painful.

Torn limbs and mutilated bodies lay in abundance in the spacious hall.

Green blood and innards changed the colour and smell around them.

In the midst of all this carnage stood a lone youth with his now-green spear resting on his shoulders as he stared at the only survivor of the massacre.

The boy was covered head to toe in green blood and reeked of death and bloodshed.

But he paid none of it any mind as he emotionlessly stared at Gobita.

He had been crying and wimping as he witnessed his whole tribe, including his own mother, be brutally and helplessly mutilated by the blue-eyed monster.

A couple minutes ago, tears ran down his eyes, but now even they have run out.

In fact, Gobita didn't even seem conscious anymore.

Making one wonder if he was still alive, and yet he very much was.

He was just exhausted from the fear and crying, causing him to lose consciousness.

Looking at all the bloodshed and chaos, one could question.

Who was the real monster on this floor?
