Izumi's POV:
"Ku Ku, how does it feel to be the one being sprayed?"
"Not good."
In addition to the strange smell of whatever it was she had eaten on lunch, my face felt hot and sticky. It did not feel good.
With the same smile on her face, she got up from my chest, took two steps away from me, and asked, "You remember me now?"
Suddenly it dawned on me that I had met her back in the bakery when Rika, her friend, and I had gone to see a movie.
The last time she had a mask on her face.
Her aura was larger than that of a normal blessed human, but it did not make me think, "I should remember her."
We got along great at first, and I thought we would get along well enough, but then she started hitting me without warning, which made me want to forget about her even more.
"I told you I remembered you when we met in the morning.
"Even kids can lie better than you."
Her eyes narrowed and focused directly on my face, as if she could see right through my lying.
Is my lying really that bad?
This crazy human that I totally forgot about kicked me while I was lying on the ground when she noticed that I was not answering to her.
Hinoda then moved closer to my face, sat next to it, grabbed the clean part of my shirt with her left hand, and pushed my face toward hers.
"I could kill you right here and now for what you did to me that day."
Her face expression changed, and her aura became slightly heavier than it had been a few moments before, giving the impression that she was attempting to intimidate me.
However, the amount of aura she was projecting was about the same as that of a middle realm demon that forgot to frighten me; it was not even strong enough to make me cautious around her, and the same was true for her blessing, which would not even scratch me if it were used directly on me.
She just stood there for a while without saying anything, while I remained on the ground.
The smell of the curry she splashed on my face became so strong that it began to make me uncomfortable.
"Can you tell me where I can wash this mess off my face?"
"Ku ku, a normal person would have started begging for his life, but you, even though I can not see any aura around you, you're unhinged."
What did she say?
She can see auras, huh? But only angels and demons can see auras, so does that imply she is a possessed? Now that I think about it, she described death in such a way that it appeared as if she had experienced it herself on that day.
While I was pondering her sentence structure, she released her hold on my shirt, got to her feet, and proceeded to remove a water bottle from her bag, spilling its contents all over my face.
"What? Are you going to lie on the ground? Get up, let us leave before the teachers notice?"
The sudden downpour of cold water on my face startled me and caused me to get up from the ground.
"That is cold. Stop."
She did not stop and poured the entire bottle of water on me.
...
We headed to the school's front gate after engaging in some more pointless conversation.
There were still some students left in the school. I felt as though I was forgetting something, but I reasoned that it probably was not that important.
We then parted ways at the entrance after Hinoda informed me that she lived in the opposite direction from me, and I began to walk in the direction of the station.
...
I was traveling to the station and followed the same route that Rika and I had taken to get to school.
The city had the same atmosphere; there were large crowds, devil hunters strolling the streets, and a lot of noise from the numerous cars that were stopped and immobile due to the traffic congestion.
Everything was fine except the fact that Hinoda was following me. She told me a moment ago that her house was in the opposite direction, so I was confused as to why she was walking in the same direction as me while maintaining a constant distance.
Unable to control my curiosity about why she was walking in this direction, I looked back, but for some reason she tried to hide herself behind the vertical banner, but I clearly saw her while she was hiding herself.
First there were those human boys who began beating me for no apparent reason, and now there is this girl who is following me for some reason. Young humans are extremely strange.
I approached the banner and noticed Hinoda crouched on the other side of it. When she noticed me standing in front of her, she stood up and said, "Hi," with her same dead look on her face.
"Hello, so, are you following me?"
"I am because—hey, wait!"
I did not understand why she was following me, but it did not bother me, so after confirming it, I continued walking, ignoring whatever she was trying to say to me.
She stood up and ran towards me, and after catching up, she began walking alongside me at my pace.
What now? Why is she looking at me with that strange expression?
Rather than looking in front of her, she focused her entire attention on my face, her eyes narrowed and her cheeks puffed out, making her appear angry once again.
She did not start a conversation and kept the same face for a while, which I did not understand, so I didn't say anything and we just walked towards the station.
While walking down the sidewalk, I noticed a very large greyish aura that covered both sides of the sidewalk, with the center of emission being one of the cars stuck in traffic.
This caught my attention because the person emitting the aura was someone who could potentially harm me, unlike Hinoda, whose aura really did not interest me.
That is, only if I halt my regeneration and remain motionless as he unleashes his strongest attack on me.
The human giving off this aura was inside the car, but I was unable to see his face because the window was opaque, preventing me from seeing inside.
While looking towards the car, I felt a sharp, sudden pain in my left ear.
Hinoda was firmly grasping my ears with her fingers and pushing them in her direction.
"That hurts, Tall girl."
"There."
Hinoda extended her other arm and pointed with her fingers to a shop a few steps away.
"We're going into that café."
"Sorry, but I forgot my wallet."
"I'll pay for it."
"Let's go."
I did carry my wallet, but since I knew money was valuable, I did not want to waste it. Nevertheless, after she informed me that she would be covering my expenses, we both went to the cafe.
