Di Tian and Kong Mei kept walking in silence, heading down the mountain trail. The sun started to rise, casting light over everything. They walked side by side, not saying much, but they didn't need to; they'd been through enough together that quiet felt right.
As they went on, Di Tian glanced over at her. "Guess we're not the same people who walked into that place."
Kong Mei gave a small nod. "Feels like we've been through years in there."
They both chuckled a bit, the sound almost surprising after everything. There was a lightness, a kind of relief, like they'd finally made it out of something heavy. Di Tian took a deep breath, feeling the air, fresh and real, on his face.
"Look at us," she said with a slight grin. "Back to the world, with who knows what waiting."
He nodded, a simple smile crossing his face. "Yeah. It doesn't feel so big now, though. I think we can handle it."
