I didn't even realize what had just happened at first.
As soon as that woman said the words "Hallelujah", everything turned black. No, that isn't right. It didn't turn black. It didn't turn anything. It was like an absence of anything and everything. Even my sense of time was gone. It felt like I could have been gone for years, yet it also felt like it all happened in the blink of an eye. Now, embraced by light and sound and time once again, I realized I didn't have a lot of time to really think about what just happened.
I barely had a moment to figure out where I was before I saw the impossible. In front of me was some kind of giant lizard thing. Immediately, it swung its large tail at me and sent me flying into a wall behind me. I fell to the ground and felt sharp stones all around me. I looked up and the lizard raised his hand high above me. At the end of each finger were long sharp claws that would clearly be able to make swift work of me. The lizard slammed its hand down at great speed, faster than I could have ever hoped to dodge it.
Suddenly, there was the sound of something cutting through the air and a sound akin to flesh ripping followed right after it. The lizard's hand, now disconnected from its body, into the wall. I took advantage of whatever just happened and rolled to the side, just barely avoiding it as it slammed to the ground.
I looked to see who it was that had saved me from such a monstrous creature; and saw a man. Half-disguised by the dim lighting in the room that I was quickly making out to be a cave, I couldn't tell much about him. He wore some type of metal armor around his torso and head. His muscles gave him a bulky body, yet he was swiftly jumping back and forth, preventing the lizard from focusing on a target much smaller than itself. The long sword in his hand was covered in a green blood like liquid, but was still sharp.
As the lizard continued its attempt to keep up with the man, before I could even register what happened, there was another slash sound and another sound of flesh being ripped off. The other arm was now gone too. The lizard briefly fell forward, but instead of taking advantage of this, the man quickly made as much distance as he could. The lizard quickly regained new balance on its hind legs and tail, now looking something akin to a T-Rex.
It began to run around, chasing the man as fast as it could. Yet, thanks in part to his decision to ensure a large amount of distance, the man was able to keep a steady gap between them. As I began to wonder how long he would be able to maintain his stamina, I started to think a bit more clearly.
'What the hell is going on here? What the hell is that thing? Where the hell am I? Hell? That is a reasonable possibility… No, I can't be dead. The last thing I remember was-'
"Isekai."
'Isekai. Another world. Is it really possible? I mean, I didn't expect her to really be able to do it, but I did agree to the contract.'
Just as I was realizing what was going on, the lizard, having gained traction during my thoughts, lowered its head to try and snap the man up in its jaws.
"Oh, shit!"
That was when the man turned around and raised his sword at an angle facing the lizard's neck. Completely focused on gaining speed, the giant could never hope to slow his momentum in time. The sword penetrated the scaly skin of its neck, then continued to slice a long vertical opening along as it kept moving forward. The rushing blood flow it needed to maintain its speed was now causing it to bleed out too fast for its body to handle. It fell forward again, this time it's head slammed into the ground and it slid to a quick stop on the rough ground.
Something as formidable as a dinosaur was defeated by a single man. A man I was very much hoping would be able to help me survive this other world.
