The sunshine in autumn is always the most pleasant. The warm rays combined with the gentle breeze created a perfect atmosphere. On the Quidditch pitch at Hogwarts, a large crowd of wizards and Squibs had gathered. Despite the heat and the gusts of autumn wind, the air was filled with excitement and anticipation.
All eyes were focused on the high platform in the middle of the lawn, where the event everyone had been eagerly awaiting was about to begin. Suddenly, dark clouds covered the sky, causing a murmur of suspicion among the wizards. However, no one was too worried, as this was Hogwarts, and Dumbledore himself was present, sitting at the front.
Then, under everyone's gaze:
Buzz!
A pale golden light beam pierced through the dark clouds, shining directly onto the high platform. In the middle of this beam, three figures quietly emerged, walking step by step towards the platform. To everyone's surprise, a huge magic projection appeared above the sky, capturing the three figures in the light beam and displaying them for all to see.
The wizards recognized the last two figures—Professors Lockhart and Flitwick. But the person leading them was none other than Argus Filch, the caretaker of Hogwarts, which caused a stir among the crowd. They realized that Filch, known for being a Squib, was the protagonist of today's event.
As the three figures landed on the high platform, Lockhart looked at the massive magic projection in the sky and nodded in satisfaction. He waved his wand, and the dark clouds dissipated, while the pale golden light beam disappeared, leaving the projection visible to everyone in the audience. Lockhart pointed his wand at his throat and cast a silent amplification spell, ensuring his voice could be heard across the Quidditch pitch.
"Ladies and gentlemen," he began, "no, I should change my wording. Dear wizards and future wizards, welcome to this event where we will witness the solving of a thousand-year-old problem in the wizarding world."
Lockhart's voice fell, and the Squibs seated behind the audience clapped enthusiastically, their excitement palpable. The wizards were also moved by the applause, and even the pure-blood wizards at the front clapped politely.
"Today is destined to be a day remembered in the history of magic," Lockhart continued. "Because starting today, we will officially embrace the largest group in the wizarding world, the Squibs. They will enjoy the beauty of magic with us, and we will no longer have to worry about whether our children can become wizards. There will no longer be Squibs in the wizarding world; everyone has the opportunity to become a wizard."
Hearing this, many wizards and witches with families cheered, some even crying with joy. They knew the heartbreak of having a child become a Squib and were elated at the prospect of a future without that fear.
Lockhart observed the pure-blood wizards sitting at the front, noting their displeased expressions. But he didn't care; his words had successfully roused the emotions of most of the audience. He continued, "I know the reports of the past few days may have caused some wizards to wonder, but I believe that everything will change after today."
"Now, let's welcome our hero—Argus Filch."
Filch waved hello to everyone and raised his wand. Under Lockhart's conscious control, a large close-up of Filch appeared in the magic projection. Professor Flitwick stepped forward and spoke into the amplification spell.
"Filch, I believe, is known to all the wizards here. Since I became a professor at Hogwarts, I've taught countless students, and Filch has welcomed countless students. Everyone knows that Filch has always been eager to learn magic, but due to his circumstances, he never succeeded. But now, with Professor Lockhart's research and teachings, Filch can cast magic."
"Although he is old, he can now proudly say that he is a wizard." Professor Flitwick turned to Filch. "Filch, let's show everyone your magic."
Flitwick took out a small box from his space extension belt, opening it to reveal three Quidditch balls—the Quaffle, the Bludger, and the Golden Snitch. Lockhart controlled the magic projection to display the three Quidditch balls, raising anticipation among the audience.
"Wingardium Leviosa!" Filch chanted, waving his wand skillfully. A pale white light emerged from the tip of his wand and hit the Quaffle, making it float slowly. The crowd watched in awe as Filch moved the Quaffle around, their cheers especially loud from the Squibs.
Lockhart kept the projection focused on Filch, who returned the Quaffle to the box and then took out a magic broom. He mounted it, and Professor Flitwick controlled the Bludger to fly upwards. The audience watched expectantly.
Under the watchful eyes of many wizards, Filch flew up on the magic broom. Though the flight was shaky and not very high, it was a momentous occasion for everyone to see a Squib flying.
After a short flight, Filch landed the broom slowly. Lockhart turned his attention to the third Quidditch ball, the Golden Snitch, with a glimmer of expectation in his eyes.
