The two women blinked as they floated high above, drifting toward the district where the explosion had occurred, showing a bit of interest.
Their levels of life were such that they could perceive things beyond what ordinary people could see. From their perspective, Spider-Man, Peter Parker, appeared no different from an average person—just a normal college student, a young man, though slightly melancholic.
However, in the midst of this, countless threads seemed to connect to his fate.
Each thread represented a universe, a dimension, forming a vast spider totem, interwoven and complex.
With their level of power, the two women could have easily traced these threads of fate back to their origins—uncovering each dimension connected to Spider-Man.
But they had neither the time nor the inclination, finding the situation merely intriguing as it was the first time they had seen such a phenomenon.
As they observed, Wanda furrowed her brows slightly. "Hmm, why have four or five threads of fate suddenly snapped?"
Among the countless dense and complex threads of fate in the spider totem, she noticed that three had suddenly broken—not just severed but gradually shattered and vanished in the same manner.
"Perhaps they coincidentally died at the same time by accident?" Bella wasn't surprised. The multiverse is infinite, and in every universe, the same person might die at the same moment. This was normal.
But Wanda felt that this phenomenon was not as normal as Bella suggested.
She narrowed her brows.
Buzz~
In an instant, everything centered around Wanda—the streets, the district, the people, the vehicles, the wind—all seemed to freeze in time. The surroundings blurred as if speeding through a flowing stream of light, as though they had arrived in another universe.
This was a universe reminiscent of a bygone era, vintage and old.
It was nighttime.
The location was still New York, but a New York from a bygone era, with a slight drizzle falling in the night. Wanda remained seated in her chair, she and Bella appearing out of place in this world, like temporary visitors who wouldn't be noticed.
They were in a very secluded district, with vintage buildings and the lingering cultural atmosphere of a previous century.
But now, everything was in ruins, with signs of destruction everywhere: scarred walls, damaged ground, and in the distance, a man lying dead on the ground, wearing a trench coat and mask, his face filled with despair.
And in front of the corpse was a person.
This person was squatting before the body, holding onto the corpse's knee, seemingly preparing to do something.
But perhaps they sensed Wanda and Bella's gaze.
Maybe it was an instinctive awareness of danger, but the person's expression changed, and suddenly, their figure became hazy, disappearing along with the corpse they were holding.
The entire process was very brief.
So brief that it lasted only a few seconds.
Wanda and Bella focused on the spot where the person had vanished, frowning.
Buzz!
With the strange flow of time, Wanda and Bella's perspective returned to modern-day New York, where time and space resumed their normal flow.
The bustling noise of the big city returned to their ears.
The honking of cars, the busy streets filled with people.
Wanda took a sip of coffee, and Bella looked at her with some suspicion. "That person's actions just now?"
"It's probably just as you think."
"Disgusting." Bella's fine eyebrows tightened, her expression somewhat displeased. She had witnessed far too much death; she was no longer the gentle girl from Forks. The number of people she had killed with her own hands was already countless.
But the scene just now still provoked an instinctive sense of displeasure and anger in her.
"Spider-Man, the Spider Totem. Because of that totem, every universe has a Spider-Man. The identity and era of each Spider-Man differ," Wanda concluded.
"The birth of Spider-Man is destined by fate. The Spider Totem is indeed intriguing."
For something to enforce fate across the multiverse, immense power was required. The appearance of the Spider Totem ensured that a Spider-Man would be born in every universe.
In any timeline, a Spider-Man is forcibly inserted into the thread of fate.
This power should not be underestimated.
Wanda found the Spider Totem intriguing and wanted to study it further, but she had discovered another issue. She looked at Bella, who was also puzzled.
"Someone, or a group, is hunting Spider-Men. They possess the ability to traverse the multiverse."
"And they likely have a natural suppression over Spider-Man."
Wanda gave her conclusion. Although the time was short, lasting only a few seconds, Wanda could see many details and issues in that brief moment, such as how that universe's Spider-Man died, the injuries on his body, the cause of death, and the surrounding damage.
All of this indicated that the mysterious person hunting Spider-Man was not very powerful.
Otherwise, there wouldn't have been such a battle, causing damage to the surroundings. If the person had been much stronger than Spider-Man, they would have simply killed him instantly.
The bloodstains on that person carried a similar aura to Spider-Man's.
This suggested they had hunted many other Spider-Men from different universes before.
After killing and possibly devouring so many Spider-Men, the hunter would naturally develop a predatory aura and instinct that would inherently suppress Spider-Man, like a natural enemy.
In this state, Spider-Man's combat effectiveness would be further weakened.
Being hunted down was then almost inevitable.
"I detest that person, that group." Bella's red lips curled into a cold arc, not hiding her disgust toward the group.
If those people appeared before her, she would undoubtedly send them off with a fireball.
They were all filthy scum.
"Those people are not simple. The method that person used to leave was very peculiar. I tried to track them and the group just now, but I couldn't. The mark I left was immediately erased when they traversed the dimensions."
Wanda found this strange.
Even though they crossed dimensions, if she had wanted to, she could have completely eliminated them.
