Chapter 54 - Chapter 54: Can't Control Myself

The future God Slayer, Bi Xiao, drove home contentedly, back to New York City, to Queens, through Manhattan and the Bronx, following the Bronx riverfront to reach Queens.

He thought today would be like any other, with no surprises, but then, the unexpected happened.

Just as he passed Manhattan and entered the Bronx, he suddenly heard some unusual sounds.

Sounds of someone calling for help.

Not far away, possibly just a few streets over, especially when he heard several men's boisterous and beating noises, it immediately soured his good mood.

Without hesitation, he turned the steering wheel and diverted towards the source of the sounds as he passed an intersection.

Having lived in New York for a year, Bi Xiao had never done what so-called superheroes are supposed to do. Even slaughtering gangs and vampires was only because it was beneficial to him, though these actions might also have had a certain nature of heroism.

But that was it. How strong were his senses?

Just a low-grade version of Superman's, his hearing was so strong that, until today, if he wished, he could cover the entire Queens, filtering any sound he desired.

Like cries for help, using his terrifying speed and leaping ability, he could, like Spider-Man, navigate the steel jungle to rescue those in distress.

But he never had, not even once.

Normally, he would actively block out his senses unless it involved his safety or name, maintaining them at a normal human level.

Bi Xiao never proclaimed himself a superhero.

Acting was tiring, and he was solely focused on becoming stronger. On this path, he killed some gangsters and dark creatures and incidentally saved some people, and that was all. He had no interest in actively rescuing others.

Altruism and greatness had nothing to do with him.

At most, if he encountered someone when in a good mood or needed to vent when in a bad mood, he might lend a hand.

This time was no different. A coincidence that he had just undergone a strengthening phase, which prevented him from completely controlling his senses, allowed him to hear the cries, spoiling his mood further. It could only be said that the person crying for help was lucky, and those trash were not.

Speeding his car, he crossed two streets and finally found the source of the cries a few dozen meters away from a closed supermarket.

From a dark alley in the dead of night, with the streets nearly empty and only a few street lights casting dim light, creating large patches of darkness.

"Please, don't do this, let me go."

"You are police, you can't do this, NO."

The alley echoed with a woman's crying voice growing louder, accompanied by the sound of clothes being ripped.

Bi Xiao glanced at the police car parked outside the alley, raised an eyebrow, opened his car door, and stepped down, turning into the alley where an unbearable scene unfolded.

The alley was not clean or tidy, with two large garbage bins filled with various plastic bags and trash, emitting an unbearable stench.

A few meters into the alley, under a metal walkway on the wall, three policemen in uniform were tearing at the clothes of a black-haired girl about 160 cm tall. Her jacket was torn, leaving only a black sweater.

The girl was not strong, even frail, struggling weakly and crying in despair.

But this only incited these brutes' lust even more.

Bi Xiao stepped lightly forward, but one of the policemen, a white man about thirty years old, noticed him first. He turned abruptly, his expression ferocious and his tone violent: "Kid, this is not your place, nor your time to play hero. If you don't want to die, get out of here."

This reverse psychology alerted the other officers, one of whom grabbed the girl's hands behind her back, while another officer simply pulled a gun from his belt.

The black officer with the gun shouted at Bi Xiao, who was still approaching: "Damn it, stand still or I'll blow your head off."

"Save me, no, no, run, sir, they will really kill you."

Seeing someone approaching, the girl instinctively tried to call for help, but then realizing the danger to the newcomer, she quickly changed her plea for him to leave, not wanting a good person to be shot because of her.

She was well aware that these villainous officers would really shoot, and might even kill her in the end, blaming her death on this good man, thus adding a mark of 'achievement' to their records.

Inverting right and wrong, no matter the era, there are always such people.

"It seems I came at the right time."

Hearing the girl's words, surprise flashed in Bi Xiao's eyes; he hadn't expected the girl to be so kind-hearted. He liked saving such good-hearted people.

Standing against the only light source outside the alley, he approached step by step; the men in front of him could only see a silhouette.

"You have desecrated the nobility of this profession," he said, his voice cold and piercing.

"Damn brat, go to hell," the black officer cursed in rage, pulling the trigger.

However, to his shock, he found himself unable to move, as if his body was frozen in place. It wasn't just him; the other two officers also found themselves immobilized.

What further drove the officers into despair and fear was that the black officer suddenly turned the gun towards the forehead of one of the white officers beside him.

"Jordan, what the hell are you doing?" the white officer screamed in terror.

The black officer shouted in despair, "NO, it's not me, I can't control my body."

"NO..." the white officer watched helplessly as the gun pointed at his forehead, his cries of despair filling the alley just before the crisp sound of a gunshot and the flash of a bullet penetrating his skull marked the end of his life.
