Chapter 1 - Fresh Start

As i slowly opens my eye, the sunlight hit directly right into my eye.

'ah, how'd i get on the other side of the bed?'

It was—in fact, a broken window without curtain. That is the fact that this family holds—being poor.

As i raised my head to look at the other side of the bed, i saw my younger brother. Being poor, we can only rent a small basement under a chicken restaurant owned by my uncle. Without any other room here, you cannot even desire to have a privacy. My uncle gave us a queen sized bed to at least sleep comfortably. If i can voice out my thought, that is;

'It's not f*cking enough.'

Be grateful, huh? There's nothing, even one, reason to thank that man. He's generous, of course, he's our uncle! It's his responsibility to provide us at least basic needs. since his brother—our father— leave us without any words.

'another f*cking day.'

It's just me and my brother ever since. we don't need someone—anyone to sympathize us.

I got up from the bed to prepare a breakfast for my brother. He's attending a public elementary school at the other village because ours doesn't have one.

'it has highschool tho.'

Brother, what are you doing?

My brother got up and slowly walked beside me as he was wiping his eyes.

I am cooking, it's already 9 and you're gonna be late.

Of course, time is not a matter for me but i want to teach this little guy that he needs to be always on time.

I already told you yesterday, I'm not gonna eat here, my friends will treat me today...

I hate this. He's always mentioning this friend of his whom, i, his brother, had never seen before.

Is that right? alright, then go and wash yourself, your friends might be waiting for you.

But of course, even family has their own secret to hide. I'll just pretend to buy it. I've done it before, how can i not know? My brother tidied up and fetched his clothes before going to the door which leads upstairs, where my uncle and his kids live.

I also packed the egg i cooked and put it inside my bag. I prepared my plain white shirt and the uniform of my old school. How can we afford a uniform if we can't even afford a nice meal?

It is my third year of highschool and I transferred to another school because—well—there's a lot of complains from my classmates.

'those bastards.'

By the time i'm done cleaning, my brother entered the room and hand me an envelope.

From uncle, he says it's our budget for this week.

Every week, our uncle is giving us a budget. We need to save it in case of emergency. It is a fixed allowance and once you borrow a spare money because you spend the budget, it'll be deducted from next week's money.

Alright, get ready and walk your way to the school. I can't go with you right now, i have an errand somewhere.

After our little conversation, i headed to the bathroom upstairs to take a shower. On my way, i bumped into one of our cousins.

Hey, don't block the way!

It's Melissa, the youngest from the three little devils.

I didn't say a word and just stared at her eyes with a blank expression. I'm not trying to intimidate her, it was just my normal facial expression.

I didn't see you coming. next time, be careful. I replied.

I like how her face quickly changed from a little innocent angel to ugliest hag you can think of.

What did you just said?

'This brat...'

Nothing, I was just apologizing. with my little smile, she seems annoyed.

'Keep doing that—that look, it makes me happy!'

My face still remains motionless but my thoughts are going wild. I don't know if i am crazy but i sure am enjoying that look!

As she was about to say something, uncle interrupted her and called me to say something. Walking past her, i can't contain the smile under my lips.

André, it's your first day to your new school. I hope you can't repeat the same mistake, right?

'f*cking demand.'

Of course. I replied with a smile.

After that, i proceeded to head to the bathroom to wash until i saw my brother closed the door from the basement.

You done? Before I handed him a $10

Thanks bro, i gotta go! He hurriedly ran.

I continued my way downstairs to get dressed and go out to start my new highschool journey. There's no good thing about staying long in this household.

I quickly put my shirt and pants on before I got myself comfortable with my shoes. I exited the house and found myself walking down the street.

'It's boring walking on my own. I already missed my brother'

As i was walking, i saw a group of students walking the same way as i do at the opposite side of the road.

'So loud.'

Except money, lack of patience is also my problem. But the thing is, i don't have the energy to shout at the moment.

I quickened my phase and walked past them before turning to one of the quiet streets.

I was not heading to the school but to a friend. As his house is within my field of view, I opened my bag and pulled out the egg that i cooked earlier.

It was way bigger than our uncle's, but for some reason—i am not jealous. It irritates me.

'Do i even have a goal? why is it that i can't find myself getting excited by looking at this house.'

The house is beautiful, it's just that i can't understand how i'm not feeling anything.

After quite some time, I heard the door to the house opened as i also open the tupperware containing the food.

As the gate opens, I smiled.

André? Timmy asked.

Surprise, f*cker. Then I throw the egg right onto his face.

What the—what are you doing?!

Lads, this is Timmy, my 'friend'.

I told you, didn't I? I will follow you to your new school? with my face still remains emotionless, I reminded him.

Are you crazy?! Why are—

Hey, you're tough now? who are you calling crazy? I interrupted him.

Nothing, I was just—

Have you forgotten your promise? I grabbed the back of his neck and asked.

No, i-i was just about to send it to you... He replied.

Good. Now get ready, i'm coming along with you to our new~ school. I said with a big smile.

I kinda look like a bad guy here. Which i am. As he was about to enter the gate, i called him.

Oh, and don't forget one thing. I don't like slow drivers. I said while looking at the car parked inside their garage.

After saying that, the look in his face is completely what satisfied me the most!

'That's it! I like that look, anger!'

Okay... He replied.

He enters the house to get his belongings and called a driver. Not much longer, they came out from the front door and found myself walking inside their property.

Aren't you going to invite me?

Please... with the driver bowing, he pointed inside the car while holding the door open.

'Yes! This feeling is what i want. The feeling of being powerful'

The sad thing about reality is that, those who longed for power are mostly the people who you cannot imagine doing dirty stuff.

'I am one of them.'

Money. That's the reason why our mother left us.

While in the car, I was looking at the buildings and skyscrapers along the way.

'I will get money no matter what.'

I was interrupted from my thoughts by a notification from my phone.

$1000 received from XX

I looked at Timmy and smiled.

Don't worry, it's not like you're giving me money for nothing.

The truth is, i am not what you think i am. A bully? sure. But i beat those kids who thinks they can beat whoever they want just because they're slightly stronger than the other.

Th-Thank you, André. Timmy replied

Timmy and me? There's no big difference but money. I was abandoned by my parents, the same goes for him.

They are present—physically.

We're here, sir. The driver said. This is it, this is where i will start to rule.

So, fresh start, huh? I said to Timmy looking at the front gate of the school while students were running.

Let's do well... Timmy replied.

'Yeah, let's do well.'
