Chapter 6 - Professor Sander

Michael

I can't remember how long it was, but I remember us ordering them to bring our dinner to my room and that was it.

The next morning, I'm up by 7:30am and my head hurts like crazy.

The room is cleaned up and I don't see my brothers in my room. There's a cup of orange juice and aspirin on my bedside with a note.

Freshly squeezed orange juice, just the way you like it. Make sure you finish it. You don't want to be a hangover Professor today;-)

Mom

I smiled, feeling a bit better, and decided to get ready for my first day as a professor at Sanders College.

I got up from my awfully comfortable bed. Grabbed my phone to see a text from Sarah.

"Babe I miss you, Call me when you get this."

Gosh she just won't stop. I really don't know how many guys out there get stalked and troubled by some girl they had a one night stand with.

Now thinks you're both dating because of how much of a gentleman you were to her that night.

I believe every man should know how to treat a woman just right. You know what I mean.

Over the years, watching how my dad treats my mum with so much love has taught me to respect women. So I make sure to take my time and make them happy around me.

But look at that.. it doesn't always pay off.

Because right now I really want Sarah to disappear. We had fun. She should call it quits and stop fantasising about us.

Now talking about women, Other than flings, I don't really have them in my life. Except my mom of course. She's the only woman I have in my life since I don't have any sister.

We're all boys at home. I, Nelson and Trevor. The big trio. Since I left, it's just been Trevor and Nelson but now that I'm back. We'd kick things up again. The night outs, golf, basketball and how we'd spend evenings drinking and laughing.

I set down my phone. Not replying Sarah obviously.

We had a one-night stand, and now she thought we were dating? I didn't have time for that. She has to get over herself.

As I dressed in my fitted black Jenna Sander suit, I couldn't help but think of the girl from the mall. Her feisty attitude and lingering gaze still lingered in my head. I shook my head, chuckling at my own foolishness. Who approaches a stranger like that?

I headed downstairs, where my brothers were waiting with a hearty breakfast spread. "Hey, Nel, you riding with me or Trevor?" I asked, trying to sound casual.

"Nah, bro, I'm going with Trevor. He's picking up Jane," Nelson replied, as Trevor high-fived him.

I felt a pang of jealousy, but pushed it aside. Trevor and Jane had been together since high school, and I was happy for them.

I know I'm old enough to actually have a woman of my own but I don't and it shouldn't really matter.

As we finished breakfast, my mom walked in, a warm smile on her face. "Have a great day, boys. And Mikey, don't forget... you're doing this for the family."

I nodded, knowing what she meant. Our family's reputation was at stake, and I had to play my part. I took a deep breath, grabbed my bag, and headed out.

I arrived on campus, took a deep breath and tried to focus on teaching effectively. I am an intelligent young man and I will implement my skills well while I'm here. I made my way to the faculty lounge, where I met some of my colleagues. Some welcomed me warmly, while some kept their distance. Probably because they knew that the director's son would be handling for a while.

Not that I minded, I'm already used to public speculations.

As the day went on, I found myself enjoying the teaching experience more than I expected. I had finished with the seniors. My students were engaged and curious, and I was happy to share my knowledge with them. Despite the initial hesitation, I began to feel more comfortable in my new role.

Now I had to take on the freshmen. Which would be a very easy going class because I just have to introduce them to the whole concept of business administration.

Easy.

I felt a sense of accomplishment and hope. Maybe this teaching gig wouldn't be so bad after all.

As I walked down the hallway, I received curious looks and I could hear whispers.

"God, I wish he was teaching me"

"He's so hot"

"That's the director's son"

"I hear he's here for a while"

I smile at some students and enter the hall.

It's quiet and everyone is staring at me.

I flash a brilliant smile and introduce myself.

"Good morning Students, You can call me Professor Sander and I'll be taking you on this course for the semester."
