Long, long ago, when the world was in chaos, humanity was on the brink of extinction. But suddenly, the Tower appeared. The Tower allowed humans raise their strength to fight against the monsters by passing trials created by Gods. The humans who entered the tower to grow stronger and get mysterious treasures were called Crawlers. Thus, humanity gathered around the Tower and built a city named Iudicium.

Eventually, it grew larger, humans thrived, and a large wall was built around it. But as time passed and humans forgot the true meaning of war, the people leading Humanity got corrupted by greed and oppressed the people.

Officials picked women they fancied from the streets, only for those women to be used and discarded. They forced people with great affinity for magic to fight in the tower and stole whatever items they obtained inside the Tower as a form of "Tax". Eventually, monsters also started appearing in the city by unknown sources, wrecking havoc. Therefore, many tried to escape the city believing the outside world to be peaceful... Or at least, better than inside Iudicium.
