Chapter 109 - The Cloud Kingdom's Princess

The Cloud Kingdom's Princess

"Let me tell you a little info about Lana," Larry said, his eyes gazing into the distance. "She's from the Cloud Kingdom, the granddaughter of Duke Sebas Ross."

Zach's eyes widened. "The Duke Sebas Ross? The beast tamer who controls a SS-rank monster?"

Larry nodded. "The same one. Madam, the giant spider, is his partner. He's a 9-circle aura user, contracted with a mid-rank dark Dijin, and a master spear user. The Cloud Kingdom is a peaceful place, full of geniuses, but not many fighters. Lana left to get stronger, to be like her grandfather."

Kai's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "That's when you met her, at "Glenn great training dojo?"

Larry smiled, a hint of nostalgia in his voice. "Yes, I saw her, and I already liked her. Even Abel liked her too, and that's why we fought all the time, to win her heart. But she liked Diego."

Ace's eyes widened. "So, that's why Uncle Larry and Abel always clashed?"

Larry nodded, his expression turning serious. "Yes, our rivalry went beyond friendship. We both wanted to be the one she loved."

The room fell silent, the weight of Larry's words hanging in the air. The story was far from over, and Kai sensed that there were more secrets waiting to be revealed.

"I was going to give up on her, since she liked my best friend Diego," Larry continued. "That's why I made a mistake with Tina. In a moment of depression, I kissed her, and we didn't just stop at kissing."

Kai's eyes widened in understanding. "Oh, so that's why she doesn't like you."

Larry nodded. "Yeah. But by the time we were about to finish our training with our master and go our separate ways, Lana confessed to Diego. But Diego said no, and told her the reason - he wouldn't make it past the age of 25, and he was 18 at the time. Lana understood, and they remained friends."

Zach's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "What happened next?"

Larry took a deep breath. "After some years, I became a mercenary. I ran into Lana on a mission. We talked for a while, and I asked if she was single. At the time, I still kept in contact with Diego. She said yeah, and I told her I wanted to keep in touch with her, so we did. A year later, we started going out, and later on, we were going to get married to her. It took a long time to get approval from her grandfather, Duke Sebas Ross."

Ace's eyes widened. "Wow, Uncle Larry, that's quite a story."

Larry smiled, a hint of sadness in his eyes. "Yes, it's been a long journey. But I never regretted my decision to pursue Lana. She's the love of my life."

"...we were even expecting a kid," Larry continued, a hint of sadness in his voice. "We all went to Diego's family home because it was his birthday. He even invited the whole team. It was really awkward with Tina around, but she was happy for Lana, that she was getting married. Even Diego, Reinhardt, Catherine, and Benjamin were happy for us."

Kai's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "Where is your wife now, Larry?"

Larry's gaze drifted into the distance, his eyes clouding over. "She died... by the hand of Abel."

The room fell silent, as if the air had been sucked out of it. Everyone's eyes were fixed on Larry, shock and disbelief etched on their faces.

"To be continued..."
