The annoying part about not having a cellphone is that I can't call Matthias to tell him where to meet up. It's always by chance or planned ahead of time. I need to find a way to earn money. Maybe I should get a job somewhere?
Great. I got a silencer. Matthias had one that he found. He's done so much for me even in this month alone. Time to try it out. I put the silencer on my rifle. It takes a second to figure it out but I get it eventually. I look around for a target to aim at. The top of that tree, I think. It's perfect. I freeze as I remember that Mr. Sergei would always make me aim at the tops of trees. It almost feels like he's there with me, guiding my arm. Wow. It's so much quieter now.
"Hey, kid!" I hear a man's voice behind me and look back at him. "That's pretty good. You lookin' for some cash?" He asks, grinning. One of his teeth is gold and the rest are just yellow. Ugh. What does this guy want from me? I roll my eyes. Whatever. I need money anyway, "Yeah," I respond to him. "Alright," The man grins again, looking every bit sinister. There's no way he wants me to do anything good. "Bring your rifle with you." I follow behind him, rifle in one hand and the other balled into a fist. What did I get myself into?
The man leads me into a dark storefront. Sitting down, he turns a small lamp on and passes me a few sheets of paper. "Get rid of him. By the end of the month," He says, tapping his finger on the table. I ask, "What do you mean, get rid of him?" I think I already know. He wants me to kill. I grit my teeth. It's too late to turn back. Let's do this.
I end up going to class that day, an unusual occurrence. I'm supposed to be taking a test or something. Sitting in the back of the class, I read through the documents, trying to remember if I've seen this person before. Then it hits me: This is the guy who works at the convenience store a few blocks away from Mr. Sergei's old place. What would anyone want with this guy? I turn to the second page and begin to read it. My jaw drops in shock as I learn of what he did to deserve such a punishment. Oh my god.
