Chapter 42 - Date

We step into the sleek, ultra-modern elevator, its soft hum barely noticeable against the thrum of anticipation vibrating in my chest. The cool metallic walls gleam with a futuristic shine, and the ceiling panels flicker with shifting constellations, mimicking the starry sky outside. I stare at the reflection of Zane and myself, his hand resting possessively at my waist, my gown shimmering under the soft lights. Tonight, everything feels different, like the calm before a storm.

"You look stunning," Zane murmurs into my ear, his lips brushing the delicate shell as he speaks. His voice is a mix of pride and something deeper—something almost possessive, as if claiming me in a way that goes beyond just tonight.
