"It's been two days. What on earth are they doing in there?" I mutter, pacing the length of Tristan's office with no attempt to hide my frustration. I miss Ember, and frankly, I'm getting restless.
Tristan, seated behind his desk with his usual calm demeanor, glances up, a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. The low, knowing chuckle he lets slip catches my attention.
"What's so funny?" I snap, casting him a glare.
"Nothing," he says, but the amusement still lingers in his expression. "They'll be back soon enough. Once they've had their fill… or at least, maybe enough." He returns his focus to the stack of documents in front of him, dismissing me like I'm not sitting here, craving any distraction from this endless, maddening waiting.
