Ken gritted his teeth, feeling exhaustion and pain hit him hard in every part of his body. He picked up the sword, which was piping hot, stabbed it into the ground, and used it as support. His hands burned, but the pain from his simple action of picking up his sword and stabbing it into the ground was far more overwhelming than the burning.
His muscles ached and spasmed, legs shaking and ready to collapse. But his eyes were deadly sharp and the thought of taking a moment to rest didn't cross his mind. He was done with this crap...
Ken let out a pained groan, the pain greater than he was prepared for. He was bleeding from his ears, and the cuts he had sustained from the vortex had reopened, causing him to bleed profusely.
He took heavy breaths as he stared toward the Tenebris, which was dozens of kilometers away; though it wasn't visible to his eyes, he could sense it struggling, though not as much as he was.
