Ken sat down on the ground and took long, steadying breaths. His whole body was on the verge of giving out, but somehow, he managed to hold.
---Ken's pov---
Fuck this hurts like hell!
I stared at the soil beneath me as I tried to cool down, my muscles still twitching from the strain. I could sense Eva standing right beside me—worried, but calm. Impressive for someone as emotional as her, but I suppose that's the benefit of being part of High Society. If you're not strong, you can't gain anything without losing something.
[I knew you were going to do this... Sigh, next time, don't do it around Eva. You worried her for nothing... At least you got stronger, which is a plus.]
Eleis's voice came through, as nonchalant as ever. She couldn't care less if I was hurt or even on the verge of death; as long as I was alive, that was all that mattered to her. It's something I really respect—no need to worry about her getting worried about me.
