The moment that they arrived, Jack and Henry immediately headed towards the top floor of the building. That was where the main management of the company was located.
But just as they were in the elevator, heading towards the top floor, Jack's phone suddenly rang. When he looked at the caller ID, he realized that he did not know who it was that was calling, it was a new number.
"Hello." Jack said after receiving the call.
"Hello Mr. Smith. My name is Jared Christie, and I am the current CEO of Harmony Technologies. I have just been informed that you have acquired 99% of the shares of the company. I would like to know when you would be paying the office a visit in order to complete the transfer of the shares." A slightly aged but firm voice came from the other end of the call.
Jack was surprised. He was impressed by the efficiency of the CEO. After all, it had been less than an hour ever since he received the shares from the system. But within this time, the CEO had already been informed, and was already contacting Jack for the transfer of the shares.
"I'm already here. I'm coming to the top floor right now." Jack responded calmly.
"Oh? I will come over to receive you." Jared responded, after a moment of surprise.
After that, the call between the two of them ended. Jack and Henry remained silent for the next few seconds as the elevator continue climbing, stopping occasionally when others join them in the elevator, or were leaving the elevator having already reached the floor that they wanted to go to.
The moment that the elevator opened after the two of them had reached the top floor of the building, they were welcomed by an open space.
In this small open space, there was a counter that was close to a corridor that led to the offices that were behind it. Just looking at the counter, one could easily tell the quality of the furniture and the equipment that were used.
The moment that they came out of the elevator, the lady that was sitting behind the desk could not help but raise her brows slightly when she saw them. She could not help but be curious about who they were, and what they wanted.
It was not a surprise that people would oftenly come here to this top floor. After all, many transactions needed to be carried out, and other discussions with the bosses, those in charge of the management of the entire company all happened on this floor.
But it was the first time that she was seeing two young men coming over. They seemed to be not even 20 yet. It seemed that they had just recently joined college.
The moment that the two of them arrived in front of the desk, the lady offered them a polite smile as she asked, "Good day gentlemen. May I know the reason for your visit?"
Jack wanted to respond, but before he could, there was the sound of approaching footsteps. From the sound of the footsteps, one could easily tell that the person was rushing over.
The three of them looked was the direction of the sound of the footsteps, only to see that there was a man that was rushing over. This man was wearing a black suit, with his blonde hair combed backwards.
It was currently shining, indicating that it was waxed. His gray eyes were looking around with both anticipation and nervousness. This was something that the young lady behind the desk had never seen before.
Jack looked at the man that had come over. He had seen this man several times, considering that he was part of some of them top businesses in the city. He was none other than the CEO of Harmony Technologies, Jared Christie.
He looked completely different from the times that Jack had seen him on the news. Henry also recognized him, considering that during the time that the two of them had been researching, trying to find any clue about the mission that they were supposed to handle, he had obviously come across several news concerning the people around the city.
It seemed completely out of character to be able to see this man, who was in his late '40s, acting so panicky, and nervous.
The first moment that Jared arrived, he fast looked towards the elevator. But when he saw that the elevator was closed, he looked towards the desk, only to see that other than the receptionist, there were two young men.
At first, Jared did not want to pay much attention to them, considering that there was a special guest that was coming over. But suddenly, he thought of something that felt a little impossible.
Could it be possible that these two young men were actually the owners, the ones that have purchased 99% of the shares? No, it had to be one of them, right? After all, how could it be that coincidentally, just as he had been informed by the other party that he was coming over, these two young men were here at the same time.
Additionally, from the voice that he had heard, it was clear that the new owner of the company, at least the one that was holding 99% of the shares was a young man.
He approached the two of them and asked, "May I know who the two of you are?"
He was not sure who the two were, but it would be better for him to be sure first. He had been in the business world for a very long time now, and so, he knew the judgment of people. If there was no need for him to offend anyone, he would not just do that.
Additionally, considering the current situation, he might end up ignoring these young men, only for them to be his new boss. So, even if he was wrong about his judgment, there would be no harm at all, if he just treated this as a casual greasing session.
"My name is Jack Smith, and this is my twin brother, Henry Smith." Jack responded before the lady at the reception said any word.
The moment that Jack introduced himself, Jared felt relieved in his heart. At least he had not done anything like looking down upon the two young men, simply because they were young.
"Welcome Mr. Smith. My name is Jared Christie, and we just talked over the phone." Jared responded. Even though he believed that Jack could recognize him, considering that he had featured in several years already, he still went ahead and introduced himself, just in case.
The lady at the receptionist desk could not help but be surprised. She did not know the relationship between Jared, the currency of Harmony Technologies, and these young men, but from the way that Jared was talking to them, it was clear that he respected them.
Could it be that the two of them came from a formidable background, one that even Jared had to be cautious about? That was a possibility. Other than that, she did not think of any other reason why Jared would be respectful to these young men.
"If it is convenient for you, should we talk in my office?" Jared requested.
"That's okay with me. You can deal with everything while there." Jack responded, as he followed behind Jared who was leading the way towards his office.
The lady was left stunned, but she understood not to try and pry into things that did not concern her. So, after the initial surprise, she went back to continuing with what she was doing before.
On the other hand, Jared led both Jack and Henry towards his office. His office was located towards the end of the corridor.
At the very end of the corridor, there was a door that led to another office. But that was the chairman's office. Jared's office was at the right hand side, bordering the chairman's office.
The moment that they went through the door that led towards Jared's office, Jack noticed that there was yet another desk. This desk was the one that was for the secretary, Jared's secretary.
The secretary stood up the moment that she saw them. She greeted both Jack and Henry, before Jared introduced both Jack and Henry to her. She was also surprised to know that Jack was actually the new shareholder that she had heard about.
This piece of news had only reached them less than 1 hour ago, informing them that 99% of the shares had been sold another person. But it was completely unexpected to find out that the person that had bought the shares was actually a young man like Jack.
After the introduction was over, both Jack and Henry went into Jared's office that was located behind the secretary's desk.
After they went in, Jared invited Jack to take his seat, but Jack refused. Instead, he together with Henry, took the visitors' seats. Jared had no choice but to sit behind the desk.
"I was only informed about this matter about 50 minutes ago. Even though the time was not that much, I managed to prepare a few things that are required. The previous shareholders have already signed the transfer agreement, and the only thing that is required is your signature to complete the procedure." Jared said as he took a few documents from his desk.
They were the share transfer agreement. While Jack was not surprised, Henry was slightly surprised. He could not help but wonder if Jack had been silent about this issue, considering that since the shareholders had already signed, it was clear that this was not something that they had just been informed on this day.
They had to have been informed a few days ago, for them to make a decision on selling the shares, going through all the other procedures that were required, leaving the only last procedure being Jack's signature.
