Chapter 117 - Remaking the turbine (3

Using the pulley, the hub was lifted up and the open end of the hub was forced to wrap around the nearby end of the round steel bar and after that, the blacksmiths had to push the hub forward so that its bore was completely occupied by the round steel bar.

The blacksmiths had to use nuts to fasten the hub onto the round steel bar using the overlapping plates that were a part of the hub. These plates had the holes where the nuts could go through and connect the hub onto the round steel.

The bucket blades had one broad end that was shaped like a bucket while the other end was narrowed and it had holes where nuts would pass through to join the bucket blades onto the hub.

After this step, the next step was easy as the blacksmithing only needed to connect the bucket blades onto the hub by fastening their narrowed ends onto the holes of the flanges of the hub.

After fastening all the bucket blades, the turbune was free to roll, Virtya would have painted the blades to slow down the rusting process but he didn't have a much adhesive paint and therefore, he could just stick to the plating method.

After completing to assemble the first turbine, a wagon was allowed into the chamber whereby the 10 metre turbine was let down and it sat onto the large wagon perfectly without allowing the blades to touch the deck of the wagon, lest they get deformed by the overwhelming heavy weight of the entire turbine.

Virtya had needed to ask the blacksmiths to open the huge gate of the chamber to allow the wagon in. The labourers from the cement plant would have to push the wagon from the blacksmithing guild to Pollow where the cement plant was situated.

It needed the workers to do three trips so that they could finish sending the turbines to where they were needed and after that, they would start ferrying the parts of the rotary kiln.

The huge wagon carrying the turbine created a commotion in Whiten as the people didn't knew what it was going to be used for which forced some curious individuals to follow the labourers in the long journey to Pollow.

Pushing this wagon forward could only be done by the labourers as a few horses could not manage to pull it forward. While arranging many horses to pull this wagon was almost inconceivable.

It needed Virtya to come to the blacksmithing guild three consecutive days to finish building the three 10 metres turbines. The remaining round steel bars would only be used to support this heavy turbine. In those three days, the blacksmiths made sure to finish molding all the components of the turbine but the kiln would take a long time to build because of its complicated design.

However, assembling the parts of the kiln together was not hard as most of the parts looked like enormous cylinders with a diameter of 6 metres and a variable length depending on how the inside of the cylinders had been designed.

Of course, most of the cylinders had both ends opened and they had a refractory lining which was heat resistant to ensure that the heat of the melted contents inside the kiln would not affect the kiln itself. It was only two cylinders which had a complicated design because they were not only connected to a stove but also they had a rotary mechanism around them to enable the rotation of the kiln.

These cylinders would be connected to each other to make a whole rotary kiln which would be mounted at a specific place while allowing room for its rotation.

Actually, Virtya was only interested with the assembly of the rotary kiln and the turbine but he would not be going back to Pollow to see the installation of the turbine and the rotary kiln.

What Virtya wanted to hear was that cement was being produced as needed.

Meanwhile, at Isthmus town, the market was bustling with customers because this was the border between Azuhai and the Litkesh kingdom. It would only need a person three days to travel from Isthmus town to Whiddiff city while it would require a person two weeks to travel from Whiddiff city to Ancard town which was the border town between Azuhai and the Ugley kingdom and that was why Litkesh kingdom was near Whiddiff city as compared to Ugley which made many merchants to chose to do business with Litkesh kingdom as compared to Ugley.
