We strolled towards his car, his arms still wrapped around me, providing support as we walked. It was a Jaguar XJL in Loire Blue Metallic, a color that seemed to mirror his personality perfectly. Blue symbolizes enthusiasm, sympathy, communicativeness, compassion, idealism, sincerity, and imagination in a person, traits that he embodies effortlessly.
He stepped forward to open the door for me, but I remained rooted to the spot, unable to move. A surge of guilt washed over me as I contemplated what was about to transpire. If it were within my power, I would freeze time at this very moment, embracing him tightly, unwilling to break his heart.
He waited patiently, then stepped closer to me, his hands cupping my cheeks with gentle care. Leaning in, he tenderly placed a kiss on my forehead. In a seductive tone, he whispered into my ear, "Your vulnerable gaze is tempting me beyond restraint. If you keep looking at me like this, I might not be able to control myself and will be tempted to strip myself and take you right here. It's probably best if you get into the car before my words turn into actions."
I knew he was teasing, but his words made me chuckle nervously. I playfully punched his arm as my cheeks flushed with embarrassment, feeling the warmth spread across my face.
I settled into the seat, finding comfort as I adjusted myself. With precise movements, he closed my door, ensuring it shut securely before circling around the car to the driver's side. As he settled into the seat beside me, he glanced my way, his eyes reflecting a quiet determination.
Leaning towards me, he raised his left hand beside my head, prompting me to look in its direction. With a gentle motion, he reached for the buckle tongue, effortlessly releasing it. I instinctively leaned back, allowing him to complete the task without interruption.
This was quintessentially him—always attentive, always looking out for me, even without a word spoken.
On our way, Lucian spoke incessantly, attempting to lighten the atmosphere with a series of corny jokes. While they were undeniably lame, I couldn't help but find myself smiling and occasionally chuckling. It was his way of lifting my spirits whenever I felt low or upset, and strangely enough, it always seemed to work.
Glancing out of the window, I soon recognized our destination. Turning my head towards Lucian, I watched him with a smile as he continued to chatter away, completely unaware of my distraction.
Lucian pulled the car to a stop in front of my house, marking the end of our journey. Despite the fact that the drive from the hospital to my house typically only takes about thirty minutes, this time it had stretched out to three hours. Lucian often took me on long drives like this when I was feeling down; he truly is a sweet boyfriend. Stepping out of the car, he gallantly opened the door for me, his right hand extended towards me while his left hand remained behind his back. Leaning slightly towards me, he said, "My lady" Without hesitation, I placed my right palm on his, allowing him to guide me out of the car. We shared a hug and a kiss, the perfect punctuation to our silent understanding. I couldn't find any words to say that wouldn't disrupt the peaceful atmosphere.
As Lucian drove away, I stood there, waving until his car disappeared from view. A hint of loneliness crept in, but I couldn't bring myself to ask him to stay. There were unspoken boundaries between us, one of which was respecting each other's personal space.
Turning back towards my door, I punched in my password and let out a quiet sigh. "It's been such a long day," I murmured to myself. Walking over to the mirror beside the door, I studied my reflection. My brown hair fell gracefully to my shoulders, parted down the middle, framing my face symmetrically. I wore a wine-colored ankle-length dress that hugged my curves just right, a perfect match for my light olive skin tone. Completing my outfit were beige pointed toe pump heels, adding a touch of sophistication to the ensemble.
I kicked off my heels and placed them in the empty space among my other footwear. Then, I headed to the bathroom, tossing my phone onto the bed as I went. I lost track of time in the soothing embrace of a long shower – there's nothing quite like it after a tiring day.
Emerging from the shower, I wrapped myself in a cozy bathrobe. Feeling too lazy to cook anything elaborate, I opted for a simple snack. I roasted some peanuts and chopped up onion, cucumber, and tomato, tossing them together with a sprinkle of salt and chili powder. It wasn't a gourmet meal, but it suited my mood perfectly, and I wasn't even sure if I'd have the appetite for more.
Carrying the bowl with one hand, I made my way to my bedroom, flicking off the lights as I climbed into bed. Retrieving the TV remote from beneath my pillow, I randomly selected a movie and settled in to enjoy it while snacking on my peanuts and veggies.
Midway through the movie, my phone screen suddenly lit up with a notification. It was a message from Danny:
"Danny: Hey Ellie! I contacted my friend, and she said she'll be back by next Friday. I've made an appointment for Sunday, considering all your schedules.
"Today is Tuesday, so considering next Sunday, I'll have to wait for 12 days. Well, it can't be helped. I can't let others know about this nor allow any rumors to spread.
"Okay," I replied simply, before turning my attention back to the movie, sinking into its storyline once again.
The movie I was engrossed in was "Wish," an animated gem that I found quite enjoyable. (Spoilers ahead.) Asha, the main protagonist, exudes a caring nature and goodwill. When she uncovers that the other protagonist, King Magnifico, isn't fulfilling the wishes of all the villagers of Rosas, she bravely stands up for her family and fellow villagers alongside the Queen. Even the "star" that grants her wish lends assistance. He's adorable and small, maybe reminiscent of the baby in my womb? I couldn't help but chuckle at the thought of their cuteness.
