Chapter 3 - God's Extinction

A resounding reverberation rang out as the mirror thrown into the enemy's ranks self-detonated, resulting in a massive explosion.

Squished beneath the mountains and drowning in the ocean, the 500,000 immobilized spiritual combatants resisted fiercely to regain their freedom and escape the range of the explosion, but it was to no avail.

They weren't able to break free as the explosion caught up to them.

Caught in the fierce explosion, the weakest of them were instantly reduced to dust, while the rest were injured.

Sal watched it all with a cold look in his eye, not at all affected by the slaughter he had unleashed.

He killed hundreds of thousands of beings to advance from a mere mortal to the rank of a grandmaster combatant, so why would he feel affected by killing a few hundred thousands more?

He just felt it was regrettable that the explosion resulting from the self-detonation of the mirror hadn't claimed more lives.

Anyway, he couldn't remain here anymore as the spiritual combatants who had survived the explosion caused by the self-detonation of the mirror had regained their freedom and they will come for his life any moment now.

"Scoundrel!"

"How dare you commit atrocity time and again!"

"We will kill you."

Voices brimming with fury resounded as several thousand figures burst out of the ocean and the mountains, charging towards Sal with eyes set ablaze with killing intent.

If looks could kill, Sal would've been torn into pieces.

Unfortunately, reality doesn't work like that, and threatening gazes don't have the power to kill a person.

In response to their threat, Sal merely stuck out his tongue.

"You will have to catch me first."

Without giving them the chance to act, he performed a hand seal and muttered some words.

In that very instant, his figure disappeared from sight.

"He teleported away."

"Saintess, hurry up and divine where he has disappeared to."

"I am on it."

The saintess said softly as she took out a black compass and poured her spiritual energy into it.

Depending on how it reacts, she should be able to determine Sal's exact location.

This was exactly the item the entire group had been relying on to track down Sal since they started hunting him.

As a result, despite being elusive, he hadn't failed time and time again to get them off his trail.

While the group of spiritual combatants were eagerly waiting for the result of the saintess's divination, Sal appeared at the boundary between the central and the northern part of the Grey Wasteland.

He knew that his enemies had all sorts of means to track down a person. Although he had teleported a considerable distance away, it wouldn't be long before the several thousand furious spiritual combatants would be hot on his trail.

He had to reach closer to his goal before then.

He closed his eyes trying to sense something.

As if he had sensed something, his ears twitched.

He opened his eyes and looked straight ahead in the direction of the central region of the Grey Wasteland.

"That's where it will emerge? I need to hurry up."

While saying these words, He started running towards the central region.

Meanwhile, the black compass in the Saintess's hand experienced a change.

Its pointer rapidly started spinning like a car that had spun out of control.

Watching the pointer spinning rapidly, the Saintess felt dizzy but she didn't stop looking at it, catching sight of the characters that occasionally popped up on its surface and faded as soon as they appeared.

A while later, it came to a sudden stop.

Its pointer pointed towards the Saintess and group on one end and straight ahead on the other end.

"It seems like the divination has ended. But what does the pointer pointing towards us on one end and straight ahead on the other end mean?"

"It means we will find what we are looking for in the Central Region of the Grey Wasteland."

The faces of the spiritual combatants of the Army of the Holy Land gathered around her lit up with cruel smiles.

"With a Clairvoyant on our side, it's impossible for him to escape from us! He may delay the inevitable, but the outcome of this hunt won't change. He will surely die at our hands."

"Let's move."

Half a day later, they caught up to him.

The second his back entered their gaze, they went in for the kill.

Sal had shown his hand. He couldn't possibly have another treasure that could immobilize the attacks of others and grant him the ability to control said attacks. Thus, despite what they experienced half a day ago, they didn't hesitate to go all out while facing him.

Thousands of attacks rained down on him.

Relying on his excellent speed, he escaped most of the attacks.

As for the attacks that he couldn't escape, he blocked them with his spiritual techniques.

His defenses were excellent, able to put Lord-ranked spiritual combatants like the Saintess to shame. However, he was just one man against thousands of masters and grandmasters with two Lords mixed in. How could he block all of their attacks?

A few hundred attacks bypassed his defenses and wreaked havoc on his body, leaving it more bloodied than before and so ripped open and wounded his heart and organs could be clearly seen.

"The Devil looks like he will fall dead anytime."

"Victory is close at hand."

"Attack again!"

However, just as they were preparing to launch another wave of attack at Sal, the land beneath their feet trembled violently. A sense of forbearance washed over them.

It felt as if an ancient beast that had been sealed beneath the earth was about to awaken.

Suddenly, a thick white mist burst out from under the ground in the distance.

It surged up, swallowing the sky and blocking the sun.

Then it quickly spread out, threatening to swallow the land and blanketing everything in white like snow.

"The Valley of Forgotten Souls has appeared!"

No one knew who said that, but the expression of everyone present paled. It had to do with what they had heard.

The Valley of Forgotten Souls was a god-forsaken place that had claimed countless souls. It was also known as the God Extinction Land, where gods went to die in ancient times.

It would randomly appear in the regions of the Grey Wasteland.

Anyone unlucky to be swallowed by it would never be seen or heard of again.

There was a famous in these lands.

"If you see the white mist, you've seen death.

"If it catches up to you, you will surely die.

"So retreat at the very first sight of it and pray that you escape untouched because a single touch means certain death."
