Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Breath For Me*

The Elevator opened to the fifth floor, Alec stepped out walking towards the receptionist desk, in his long black straight - pants, a pure white long sleeve shirt... leaving two unbuttoned.

" Good afternoon, Mr Qinn." Abigail gave a slight smile.

" Is Emma in?." Alec nonchalantly spoke.

" Yes Sir, go right ahead." He proceeded to her office straight ahead, giving two knocks on the smooth wooden door, he went inside. Emma looked up from her document, she wasn't expecting to see him there, no matter how much... she couldn't get enough of seeing his godly charming face, his scent...the way he dresses and smells, the way his blue piercing eyes stared at her from head to toe, it made her feel goosebumps all over..in a good way. He pulled out a chair taking a seat, his long legs crossing on top of the other...as he leaned back to look at her.

" Are you free? Thought we could grab lunch together." He spoke in a low yet even voice.

" Ah....yes."

Emma closed the file, actually she wasn't done... she simply lied to go out with him, ' besides, a little lunch break wouldn't hurt anyone ' . She told herself... getting up, Alec forwarded his hand for her to take, she stared at him for a while before staring back at his pending hand, she slowly took it... and he held her little hand firmly and secure In his, they walked out... hand in hand, showing off their there so called ' fake love and affection '

They have to pretend to be the perfect couple after all, people must believe.

They drove to a nearby restaurant, known for its exquisite Italian food around, they were escorted to their table in a private section.

" May I take your orders please." The waitress spoke.

" I will have the Italian pasta with cheese and a non alcoholic cocktail." She ordered.

" And you sir?."

" Just wine." Alec simply said.

" Aren't you going to eat?." Emma stared at him questioningly.

" I'm not hungry, but I know you are." He simply said, Emma blushed feeling a bit embarrassed, of course she's hungry, she's always hungry. The waitress went to get their orders ready, bringing a bottle of red wine and a cocktail while the Pasta is being prepared for her.

" Thank you for bringing me here, I really needed to refresh my mind." She said sipping on her drink, he simply nodded his head taking a sip of his red wine.

" I have noticed something has been bothering you, may I ask what it is?." He stared at her through his glass, the waitress brought her plate of pasta.

" Enjoy." She sweetly smiled... walking away.

" Are you sure you don't want some, it's tasty?." She tried to change the topic by ignoring his question, Alec raises a brow at her. Emma knew she can't hide this any longer, he will have to find eventually, with a sigh, she puts the fork down staring into his metallic blue eyes that demanded an obvious answer.

" I just found out I'm not the only child of the Anderson family, I have a big sister and her name is Ava."

Alec creased his brows suspiciously, how come that detail didn't appear in his investigation report about her? He guessed he should have looked into her parents as well, but his interest was in her in the first place, but still...it clearly stated she was the only child to that family.

" My sister had a problem and my parents sent her away, she was mentally unstable, so have heard.. she tried to kill me in my crib, I just....I just feel so frustrated that my grandparents hid such an important thing from me. I want to scream so badly, I want to shout and cry so hard but I can't..I want to hit something, break something to ease my anger and frustration but I find it so hard." Alec just listened quietly, his face calm and plastered. His calm plastered face was shortly replaced with a frown expression, she was getting really tensed...he figured she was having a panic attack.

Emma began to freak out, she was breathing heavily and her eyes swelled up with tears, she desperately looked over at Alec who hesitantly rushed over to her side. She can't breathe, can't stop crying. He cages her against a wall and cages her in with his body so others in the room can't see her, thankfully they were in a private sector and a few inches away from the crowded people.

" Hey, focus on me. Eyes on me, Emma." He tells her. " Breath for me."

" I -- I can't breathe." She whispered, voice strained. " I....I need to scream."

He tracks his blue eyes between hers, understanding brimming. Slowly, he nods and gathered her into his chest, lowering his head to her ear.

" Then scream, get it all out, Emma." His voice low and gentle. Her little hands grabbed the sides of his jacket, leaning even closer into his chest as she screamed out loud.

" Ahhh....."

She screamed out all the pain and frustration out, it felt good... quite reliving, she guessed that was all she needed all along, to just scream at everyone who betrayed her. She felt ready now, there was one last thing to do now, face her sister... she needs to talk to her and clear everything up. She stayed into Alec's arms for a while, taking in his sweet scent.

" Feel much better?." He pets her head gently.

" I feel great, thank you." She whispered, he smiled with a nod. They sat back down to continue their lunch date. " I have made a decision to confront my sister, today." She added.

" If you want i can be there with you." He leaned back comfortably in the chair.

" I want to do this on my own." She told him with a slight smile. He checked his watch, time surely flys.

" I have to head back to the office, see you later." He stood straightening his jacket, she nodded as she watched him leave gracefully, all the women around couldn't help but stare at him with admiration, and he only belonged to her, well, not hers...but one of his girls, she didn't know whether or not to consider herself lucky or stupid to put herself among that line of his other mistresses. Pushing the thought away, she brought out her phone calling Ms Anderson, she asked for Ava to meet her at the mentioned address since she didn't have her number. She ordered a bottle of white wine, at this point she really needed it.

In half an hour, a tall elegant woman walked into the restaurant, a blue brunette dress hugging her perfectly shaped figure, black leather high heels... and her long silver - grey hair tied back neatly. She made her way to her table... pulling out a chair and took a seat.

" Good afternoon."

She spoke with a warm smile, Emma didn't know what to make out of that smile, whether it was genuine or not... sometimes, a smile of a psychopath can be really convincing.

" Thank you for meeting with me, sister."

" I know I shouldn't have pretended not to know who you were in the restaurant, but, I was only keeping my word to your grandparents, I'm guessing you already know everything... and my attempt to killing you."

" I am, that's pretty messed up." She nonchalantly said.

" I was young, filled with jealousy and rejection, but I went through rehab and treatment all the days of my childhood...I came back because I want to be with my family, with you... to seek forgiveness, mother and father would want that, that one day we will reunite as sisters." She takes her hand holding it firmly. " Would you like that, little sis? Do you forgive me?." Her grey eyes showed sincerity, again, Emma couldn't tell whether it was genuine or not. But she would really like to give their relationship a chance, she was indeed young, that was before and this is now, maybe she has truly changed. She's always wanted a sibling when she was young, she would ask her parents to give her one every day, little did she know her wish came true long before she did. Emma nodded with a smile... she was willing to give their relationship a chance... get to know one another. " Thank you." Ava smiled.

They sat there for another hour, just talking and enjoying a glass of wine.
