Chapter 23 - "To love, to hunt"

Dinner was good, or I'd say dinner was better than good. Gourmet foods are really delectable and, at the same, fulfill your empty, growling-in-hunger stomach. Though expensive enough to consider cheaper or fast food restaurants, I was damn lucky me, I didn't have to pay for all those extravagant foods that I devoured, thanks to my filthy rich "stepmom".

The dinner was unsurprisingly quiet for the most part, thanks to Sakura's sudden and unexplained outburst.

But no one walked out this time.

After the dinner, Sakura, my father, the three daughters and Akane and I thanked all the chefs and the servers who had given us great service tonight.

Sakura's SUV came back in time, but there's one thing I alone noticed.

The creepy chaperone was nowhere to be found, and there was a new one handling the SUV.

I felt suspicious since the previous one smirked at me before he left, and my gut tells me he was with the Yakuza men who attacked me earlier.

And my victims. The dead bodies I left, the blood they spilled on the ground...it was all gone.

My victims were all Yakuzas, so someone or some group who had to clean up the bloody and gory scene. Earlier, when I was eating, I took a few glances outside and saw a few black SUVs parked across the restaurant.

Guess who had to clean up and witness their failure and accept the humiliating outcome of this night.

The three daughters, Akane, Shinji and my father were already inside the SUV, feeling refreshed and satisfied for the night. Sakura was speaking alone with the new chaperone and I was about to head inside the SUV, but suddenly...

"Shigeyoshi-senpai!" Someone called out to me. It was Nakamura, my classmate when I was in high school.

In my peripheral vision, I saw Sakura violently slam the SUV door closed.

I turned around and saw Nakamura approaching me, smiling and all giddily.

She must want to talk to me about something school-related, so I walked towards her.

"So, anything you want to say to me?" I asked her with friendly face.

"Before I forget, senpai."

"There's a high-school reunion party that will be set in a Korean samgyeopsal bar in Shinjuku." Nakamura excitedly shared.

"When?" I inquired.

"In two days, and you are importantly invited, senpai. Our classmates already know you're back in Tokyo." She chuckled.

I furrowed my eyebrows

"Wait, me only?

"My buddy, Shinji Chiba isn't invited?" I asked.

"Shinji Chiba, senpai?" She confusedly asked.

I nodded.

Nakamura widened her eyes

"You're friends with that guy? Didn't you know he went underground, senpai?"

I closed my eyes and took a deep sigh

"Right."

"Yakuzas?"

"Uh-huh, he's now a dangerous guy, senpai. That's why we didn't want him in our circle." Nakamura seriously explained.

"Okay, thank you for that. Think I'll go there to relax myself once in a while." I accepted with her invite.

"Great!" Nakamura excitedly exclaimed.

"Okay, see you soon then."

I then greeted her a goodbye with a nod.

"Sayonara, senpai." She greeted back.

While Ray headed towards the SUV, Sakura, her heart exploding in anger, kept on staring at Nakamura through the window with such murderous intent.

"You fucking little bitch." Sakura whispered to herself, furiously clenching her fists.

Nakamura felt the breeze getting colder and colder with each breathe.

As she looked up to the skies, the sparkling stars and the bright, stellar moon were being covered by thick, dense and gloomy clouds.

A cold rain was coming...

Soon, she heard a loud, deafening roar of thunder.

And the rain started to pour, heavily.

Thankfully, she had a transportation vehicle to cover herself in this cold and heavy thunderstorm.

Living in a rural neighborhood, Nakamura has to drive many miles away from the city of Tokyo and pass through dark, long and dangerous roads that had no warmth and presence of civilization around them.

The road was slippery wet, there were no cars passing by,and she was all alone driving amidst the violent thunderstorm, but Nakamura couldn't shake the feeling that she was not alone and someone was stalking her from the beginning.

Focused on the slippery road, she didn't notice her rear view mirror had captured a car behind her that kept on tailing her.

An indistinguishable kind of car was speeding towards her.

Eventually, the car has caught Nakamura's pace and was only feet away, but sadly, Nakamura still hadn't notice this yet.

Then, something bumped into her car.

Nakamura's heart jumped in fear.

"What the fuck was that!? She exclaimed.

Thinking it might be just a rock, a branch, or something that fell from the sky, she just brushed it off and continued focusing on the road.

"Argh! I hate this fucking rain." Nakamura complained in annoyance.

Finally, she managed to notice her rearview mirror and readjusted it, but she saw no car following behind her.

When she finally returned her eyes to the front, she quickly hit the brakes of her car.

Her eyes quickly widened as soon as she saw something blocking the road.

A lonely black SUV.

"What the fuck?" Nakamura muttered.

Greatly irritated, she rolled down the window and shouted something at the driver.

"Don't block the fucking road, asshole!" She screamed while the thunder roared.

Suddenly, a bullet hit the back of her side-view mirror.

Nakamura gasped softly

"Are you nuts?!" She screamed in recoil.

Panicking, Nakamura hurriedly rolled down the mirror and drove backward.

Nakamura wad driving backwards to escape the shooter but the bullets kept hitting her car.

"Shit! Shit!" She screamed in panic while her car took the bullets meant for her.

Not wanting to let Nakamura escape, the mysterious aimed at her front tires.

*bang* *bang*

The bullets punctured the tires, causing them to deflate quickly and rendereing Nakamura unable to use her car to escape anymore.

Nakamura screamed in fear as she realized front tires were getting out of commission.
